Help me out here should i carry mainly cash or just plan on using my debit/credit card most of the time? Trying to decide how much cash to take.. I have been stashing cash and was trying to decide whether to just deposit it or just pay for everything cash. Sorry for wierd question its my first trip to Vegas and i have no idea what to expect.

    Good question...

I never carry cash, but Vegas is about tipping, so I did carry around about $100 cash on me at all times and paid with my card for most real expenses.

      I'd say cash.

It's real easy to swipe that card when you're faded. The charges the next day are not pretty.

Plus you can't gamble with a credit card. Or tip a stripper. ATMs on the strip are gonna charge you $3 minimum.

        My opinion:
Cash pros: Need cash to gamble, easier to pay taxis with cash, servers/bartenders sometimes frown on credit cards as they have to take time to swipe card and have to claim the tip, can't swipe a cc through a strippers gstring to pay for lapdance.
Credit pros: you can report cc lost or stolen(with cash you are S*#t outta luck), can start a tab with a cc, can always pull cash out of atm, need cash to make it rain or sprinkle depending on amount of cash available.
This is kind of a personal preference issue, I carry both and can always pull more cash out if needed. Use one or the other based on the situation.

I take traveler's checks (If you lose them or they are stolen you don't have to worry because they are insured). Cashed them at the cage and I only took out the money I needed for the day.

i would use cash. just take out whatever you need each day. a $3 charge for using a ATM seems like a lot but its better then loosing $300 some where. i wouldn't use the CC to pay for random drinks as you tend to forget about those charges but its a necessity for checking into the hotels and bottle charges if that's route you plan to go.

I never do Debit cards. I only carry one ID and two credit cards and I have never been rejected anywhere. I keep some cash on hand, but keep it locked up in the room.

Cash talks in Vegas, so you have to keep some on hand to take care of people when necessary. However, I wouldn't suggest walking around with thousands of dollars in your pocket, especially if you plan to get hammered. There are a lot of opportunists out there, especially in crowded situations like clubs and pool parties.

I use my credit card for everything... bottles, lunch, dinner, drinks, taxi, paying cover... I like to rack up the delta sky miles. But I always carry more than enough cash for gambling and playing with strippers. So I have to say both.

Credit is so much easier, plus you get the points/miles. The other advantage is, if your hitting a pool, doesn't matter if you get the card wet...cash, not so much... However you will need some to tip with... So I guess both, but limit the cash!

I did both cash and credit but more cash that way I felt like I wasn't going to over spend because I was willing to spend all the cash I pulled out. I find that with cash I knew what I was spending that night as I was spending it with credit you really wouldn't know til you looked at your acct balance the next day. Plus I found a Bank Of America ATM

i prefer cash because if i did a little of both, some banks, mine in particular only let you take out so much in a 24 hour period and most of the time I am not in the mood to feel disciplined while i am there ...........so if i need $800 at 2am and i already pulled out $500 earlier in the day, i am kinda screwed, even if the money is in there......
