i prefer cash because if i did a little of both, some banks, mine in particular only let you take out so much in a 24 hour period and most of the time I am not in the mood to feel disciplined while i am there ...........so if i need $800 at 2am and i already pulled out $500 earlier in the day, i am kinda screwed, even if the money is in there......

I did both cash and credit but more cash that way I felt like I wasn't going to over spend because I was willing to spend all the cash I pulled out. I find that with cash I knew what I was spending that night as I was spending it with credit you really wouldn't know til you looked at your acct balance the next day. Plus I found a Bank Of America ATM

Its kinda funny you mention this; on my trip in March I used my debit card and about 5-10 mins later I got an email from my bank saying there was fraudulent activity on my card and tried to freeze it. Didnt work though

This trip I am bringing 75% of my funds in cash and leaving the rest in checking as a backup in case I need it for the last night.

I am however, trying to remind myself constantly not to forget the money is in the safe and to get it out before I go. The last thing I want to do is forget the money.

I try to use cash for "fun stuff" like drinking and gambling, and the credit card for meals and shopping. I parcel out my daily limit in cash, and that's all I get. It's up to me how I want to use it, but when it's gone it's gone. If I make money, I get to spend half, and the other half I put away. That's the system that works for me. I've had days where I blow all my money on booze because I'm not in the mood to gamble, and days I've blown it all on gambling and survived on free drinks.

if you go the cash in the safe route, just remember to not let any chicks you bring back to the room see you punchin your code into the safe. Let my experience be your example. Trust that first time you go to pour a drink or take a leak, you'll get cleaned out and then they will suddenly "have to get going".
