Anyone have any experience using the monorail for trasportation. Any thoughts on using it as our primary transporation up and down the strip?

I've used the big (pay) one a couple times. It could be worth your while if you're staying a good distance from where you you plan to go; it'll definitely be cheaper than cabs though it'll cost you more time. For instance it takes a long time to walk through the MGM all the way to the train stop. IIRC you can buy a single ride, a day pass, or a 3-day pass costs around $28.

Where are you staying and where do you plan to go?

I've never used it.. imo based on their stops and location I think they are inconvenient to use. I would rather just take the bus/the deuce(?). It's pretty slow, but it's a lot easier to find, and probably cheaper. I think a 24 hour pass is like $7 or something like that.

Never used them - always either used a cab (if I needed to get to destination quickly) or just walked. If you're at MGM or NYNY area, just walk to the Monte Carlo and take the free tram up to Aria/Mirage/TI (or has that not yet reopened?)

The tram is open @ Monte Carlo. If I'm not in a hurry and don't really need a cab that's what I plan on doing in May when I stay @ Mandalay Bay. Tram it from MB to NY/NY. Walk to Monte Carlo and Tram it to Bellagio and I'm midstrip.

I think the trams run like this

          MB-Luxor-Excalibur-NYNY/Excalibur Walkway

          Monte Carlo-Crystals/Aria-Bellagio

          Mirage-T.I.

So there may be some walking involved but its free.

I used it when I stayed at the Hilton. There is a stop right infront of the hotel when you want to get back to the strip. Other then that, all other off strip locations are really out of the way. Forget it if you plan on going anywhere near the Palms or the Wynn (where XS/Tryst is at)

thanks all. I really appreciate that info. A long walk through the hotels to get to the stops doesn't sound too appealing. I was hoping it was like Disney where it zips you right into the hotel! I think we'll use the duece to get around during the day and use a cab when we go out for the evening. I don't mind spending some cash, but I'd like to save as much for the clubs as I can. Can you say Baller on a Budget?... Unfortunately, we a stuck as far away as possible...the Stratosphere. Thanks again.

Yes I've used all of the trams. I don't think there is a tram from Mirage to TI though I could be wrong. There is no tram associated with NYNY. Once you get off tram @ Excalibur you have to walk across Tropicana blvd & down to Monte Carlo.....not a bad walk. Caution with trams @ Excal-M.B. as only 1 tram goes all the way to M.B. while the other only goes Luxor.

IMO by the time I have walked all the way from L.V. blvd all the way to the monorail (MGM to Hilton) I wish I had just walked up the blvd. I missed all of the action out on the sidewalk and that's part of the fun of Vegas. Of course temps in the 100's is a different story.

How late do the trams usually operate until? I know the monorails operate until about 2am on weekends.

Unless they took it out since Oct. 09 There is a tram from Mirage to T.I. I hit it up last year, it takes you to the very back of T.I. and its on the right side of Mirage as you walk in there are signs for it in the lobby.

Not sure how late the trams stay operational.

Monerail from TI to Mirage is nice, however I walked back to TI from Mirage and it didnt take long, but maybe it seemed that way since I stopped and talked to hot AZ boys! lol.

But I have to say, where have I been? I never knew there was a monorail from MC to anywhere?? and I stayed there last April.
