From my understanding the Monte Carlo Tram was shutdown while City Center was being constructed... So it was probably outta service for the last 3 years, and just re-opened in Dec. 09 again

Mander, I know the conductor for the monorail. I could probably get you bumper up to first class. He owes me a solid.

I've taken the monorail before, and it's not all that bad.

It just takes a little planning beforehand to know where you want to go and where it's located in the hotel.
The monorail stops are in the back of the hotels so if your destination or your room is near the back like it was for me, it makes sense to save money and time to take the monorail. And the it's always clean and nice inside.
Depending on the cab line traffic, it might be much faster too. On busy nights, I remember waiting up to about 25 min just for a cab.

so all in all, it's probably not the best idea for going clubbing transportation (since most clubs are near the front anyway), but for other activities or going to see vegas shows (show venues in hotels are mostly in the back), it makes a lot of sense to save money and time.
