I know there are some golf courses there; I know the Wynn's got one...

Any of you ever play in Vegas?

I'm a beginner; still learning, and would like to play for a bit come May. Would anyone be down?

I work with some big golfers who play in Vegas... It's not cheap... Greens fees there are up there. After flying with my clubs and playing maybe two places... I could be down almost a grand. I would rather just party with that money and play at home for free. Maybe when I'm older I'll feel different.

But if you really want to play... I have heard there are deals out there now... but not at the top courses.

William142 does a bit of golfing when in Vegas. Maybe we can get him to chime in.

I usually golf once each trip. I never play the top courses because they cost way to much. You can find average or slightly below average courses for a decent price within an hours drive of the strip. There are actually 2 or 3 courses within 15-20 minutes from the strip, and they are decently cheap. I forget the names as I usually drink a lot while playing, but a quick google search for "golf courses near las vegas strip" should get you some results. Some courses even offer free rental clubs when you pay for 18 holes with a cart after 12pm (in the middle of summer its not worth it).

I'm not a golfer, but I've played for "fun" at pitch and putt and executive courses (not in vegas) ..but based on my very limited experience, I don't think you could go to a course unless you can hit the ball straight at least 150 yards. cause you're gonna be a hindrance to the people you are playing with as well as to the people waiting to play behind you. Perhaps even to the people around you as there is a lot of rules/etiquette to the game.

Unless it's some kind of fun party course.. and perhaps they have courses like that in Vegas??

I hit it 75-175 yards at the range, so I guess it's not for me. lol

i think that sounds pretty good for a beginner especially if you can shoot straight.
i don't know anything about vegas golf courses. maybe a lot of beginners play the courses in Vegas, so maybe you're okay to play.

all i know is, when four of us beginners were playing for fun at a pitch and putt, we got kicked out after the third hole.. and this is just pitch and putt.. at least we knew how to yell "FORE" at the time..

You will be fine lol not to bash on Kori, but no one hits it straight all the time. Ive been playing for 15 years (Im 26) and I hit it in the woods a few times each time out. I actually will be out in May, but for a wedding so I doubt I will have time for golf.

To back up what everyone else said, you probably arent "good enough" to enjoy a top end course, and if you are only mediocre and just learning, may as well spend less and play a mid level course near home.Another thing to think about, is will you have a full 4some, or is it likely to get added with strangers. If that happens you lose some of the fun factor most times.

Plus like some people have said, in addition to the cost you need to give up a few other things. You will either have to get up early which means calling it an earlier night or possibly golfing hungover OR going out later in the day, dealing with the vegas heat and missing pool time.

I played a few times, I played southern highlands, but like the others said it was $600 greens fees....the course was awesome and Im an ok golfer (10 handi), but the hangover part and heat and hassle of lugging clubs and cabs to get to the course etc. do not make it appealing anymore
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss
