After reading a lot of people's reviews, I think I now have a soft spot for MGM, because I couldn't be very critical about anything about the hotel except for the fact that it was a little further from the middle of the strip than I liked. The price was definitely right and now as I am planning my next trip I'm finding it a little hard to find another hotel to match it up with (at a fairly reasonable price).

    Good:
    - Cabana Grill out in the pool area was awesome
    - Pool area = awesome. Busy but not insane. We had a lot of fun with the lazy river + inner tubes. Also had the option of doing Wet Republic, but regular pool area was a blast as is.
    - Grand Wok & Fiamma
    - Room size - clean and beds were sooooo comfy. We got a basic Deluxe Room and it was huge.
    - Bathroom was massive and sufficient space for two girls
    - Free Drinks from casino staff (and we played Slots in the Paris and Caesars for an hour each and didn't get as many drinks)
    - A/C is awesome. Our room was a fridge most of the time.

    - Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but cab rides to Wynn or anywhere else for that matter usually ended up being $10 everytime. I didn't complain about the price. But we did have to cab everywhere at night.

    Bad:
    - I like to be able to go to the clubs at the hotel just for convienence sake, but Tabu & Studio 54 are dying
    - Food there other than the 'fancier' restaurants and the Cabana Grill was really crappy. Buffet had huge lines all the time and food wasn't great.
    - Old CRT tvs.. but I'm also not there to watch tv during my stay

I've been pretty loyal to MGM and have stayed there my last 4 trips out. I've always been treated great there and although the rooms are a bit dated, I've never had a complaint. I really love the pool area as well, but wish it wasn't such a hike to get there. Lately, that end of the strip seems to be dying a bit and I found myself spending more time towards the center. I gonna switch it up a bit and stay at Treasure Island in August.

Everytime I book a trip to Vegas, I always start out by booking a room at the MGM since they seem to have continuously running promotions... but I then I get lured away by a deal at another hotel. The price is definitely right and really, being on the south end of the strip isn't that bad (NYNY, Luxor, Mandalay all right there)

I'm staying there for 9 nights in August, so I'm liking the good review!
        MGM Grand - August 2009 (9 nights)
        MGM Grand - September 2010 (8 nights)

        The Cosmopolitan - July 2012 (9 nights)

Yep, amazing how that works. Cabbing from Mandalay Bay to Encore.. 10 bucks.

            Cab from Wynn to Encore...

            10 bucks..

            hahaha

Great review, btw. I might actually consider MGM now

I really love staying at MGM, not because the rooms are anything special, but because that's by far my fave casino. It always has a good vibe, no matter what day or time you go. And it's so convenient to be able to just stumble back upstairs after you have been at the craps table all night.

the only bad thing about mgm is that your walk to your room could end up being 45 min...another plus is check in at the airport....whcih could actually save you alot of time

Maybe we were lucky, but it felt pretty easy to get to our room and out of the hotel.

I just like the layout of MGM. It totally jived with my feng shui, haha.

LOL..YES The walk was not fun for me even especially with my giant luggage (and it has wheels) it was so heavy!
That's why I stay at the Signature...great rooms, never a cab line, and I have access to my fave casino!

But, MGM is definitely more budget conscious and I am staying there for a night in July...I think $59 with a $35 food credit. Split three ways, my room will be 20 for the night not including the credit! Can't beat that...

MGM definitely has a much younger vibe than a lot of the other casinos on the Strip. The airport check-in is also really convenient, as one person on here already mentioned. The pool area is one big party, even if you don't go to Wet Republic. IMO, it gives you the most bang for your buck if you are looking for a party vibe, great pool, great restaurants, clean and spacious rooms, and a decent location.

                              Cisco:

Seriously, haven't you noticed that? You can literally take a cab from like MGM to Luxor, or Hooters, or the Trop, and it will cost you the same as taking one from Mandalay Bay to Encore.

                              Shit's retarded.
