I hear ya. Agreed! Many times it is worth it to drop a little more. My room wasn't bad but i've seen reviews online and pictures of some rooms that were horrible.Originally posted by uejjapAh, I just found the place to be relatively unkept the last time I was there. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, carpet old and grungy, ect. It's still a great location.. I just feel that the $50-100 difference on getting a better room at another hotel is such a minimal drop in the bucket of what you're spending in Vegas. If the difference was $150 or greater, I would definitely stay at this place!

If I remember, it was a coconut smell? I don't like when the hotels pump in that manufactured perfume-y stench. However...Originally posted by royaleo View PostCan someone tell me what that smell is throughout the casino? It's not a nasty smell but it's definitely not a good one either.
Overall, I liked the Flamingo. It suited our needs. Inexpensive, clean, nice pool, and centrally located. I could stay here again but probably won't because of that smell.
Casino Royale smells like there's a nest of dead rats in the walls... I'm pretty sure that's not hyperbole either.Originally posted by royaleo View PostI didn't notice a strange smell anywhere else. That's not true, Casino Royale had an extremely disgusting smell one night. It was like what you would smell at a frat party around 3am.

Is there a better option that is w/in $50 a night difference, has a good pool scene and is in the central strip. I'm flying in in for a week in late Sept for Interbike. I'm bringing my wife and would like to find a place that has a good pool scene so she can hang while I'm at the convention center or out in the canyons. I was just about to book a Go Room and then I stumbled onto this site and thread.Originally posted by uejjapAh, I just found the place to be relatively unkept the last time I was there. Just stayed at the Flamingo this past August with two of my girlfriends. I tried the Sandwich Trick, but the woman at the front desk was not having it. Straight up, she just says there aren't any other rooms available and sticks us on the 6th floor.
We get to the room, throw our stuff down, and take a look around. When looking in the washroom mirror, I noticed there were ants crawling out from behind it. I called to my friends to get in there to check it out and they yell back that there are ants everywhere! I'm talking on the bed, on the chair, crawling up the walls... Now I'm thinking were getting a suite for sure - no Sandwich required!
I get on the phone to try and talk to a manager... I get the run around for a while, then finally I speak to someone who says he's going to have them set us up in a new room. We had to go back downstairs and wait in line again. Ironically, we were called over by the same woman who had checked us in. She gave us the weirdest look, as if to say, "You just checked in." So we explained the ants story and she gave us a new set of room keys. I asked her where she was putting us and she says on the 7th floor. My response? "Don't you think ants can crawl up one story?"
I'm pretty pissed off at this point that after that situation, they would only move us up one story. But I figured, whatever, we're not going to be in the room very much anyways and since I'm with two Vegas Virgins, we just want to get out on the Strip anyways. So we get to the 2nd room and throw our stuff down again. First thing I do? Go to the washroom to check for ants again. I did find something, only it wasn't ants... There were a pair of sunglasses and a wallet. In the closet was an open suitcase... Yes, now they've double booked the room. It's pretty scary that they can just hand out room keys to anyone's room and get access. So back on the phone to speak with the man I'd spoken to before. Of course, he couldn't be found this time, so I was on hold for at least 15 minutes waiting, in a strangers room. I hung up and called again, asking to speak to a manager NOW. I was finally transferred to a woman who I had to explain the whole situation again. She tries to explain its not their fault that the computer showed this room was occupied. Regardless, I wanted a new room! So she says come back down and she'll give us new keys. I told her no way, we've already had to go to the front desk twice, she better send the keys up. She told me she would do that, and we should wait outside the room for the keys. This time we were on the 21st floor, so I figured I'm finally getting my GO Room.
We made our way upstairs and waited. 10 minutes passed and no one was coming. So back downstairs I went, leaving my friends behind to wait in case anyone showed up. I asked for the woman I had just spoken to by name, to which I was told she was busy, and would speak with me once she was available... I watched each of the workers up front so I could see just “how busy” she actually was. Another 10 minutes later and she finally comes around. I asked where our keys were as she told us to wait, yet no one came by! She told me she just had them sent up. I still don’t understand why she would tell us to wait upstairs if she wasn’t sending the keys then. Back upstairs I go with our 3rd set of keys and we finally get into our room... An hour and a half after we arrived at the hotel. I was not impressed.
I thought that was the last of our surprises, but no. Not even 2 minutes after we finally got into the room, the phone rang. I answered it and it was a different woman calling from the Security center, asking if security had met us at the room yet. I told her no, we were waiting for our keys and they didn’t show up. To which she YELLS back at me that security doesn’t bring room keys to guests. I told her that we didn’t call for security; it was the manager, so she could call her and ask why. I hung up on her since she was still yelling.
A few more points...- It took House Keeping 45+ minutes to bring up fresh towels.
- Room service took over an hour (My friends ordered a plate of nachos and a sandwich).
- House Keeping did not remove the dirty dishes from the room after the girls had ordered Room Service. My friend placed the dirty dishes in the hallway. The dishes were still there 3 days later.

I haven't stayed at the Flamingo this year, but I stayed there in March of 2008, April of 2009 and August of 2009. I had a Go Room each time and never had a bad experience there. We always found deals for Thursday-Sunday for less than $119.00 a night which I didn't think was too bad. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the soundsystem is VERY good in the room. SUPER easy to hook your iPod up too. The location of the Flamingo is great and their pool is pretty fun too. It's obviously no 5* hotel, but I think the price is good for what you get with a Go Room and for the location. I've been staying at the Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo lately, but actually would consider the Flamingo Go Room if the deal was good enough. I would pick the Flamingo over Aria and Caesar's Palace as I was not impressed one bit with either of those hotels."Cause when I get my card back activated I'm back to Vega$$"

I've been there many times and although the rooms are a little dated, I've also never had a bad experience. I always get first class service, and love playing poker there because the dealers are the best. I even talk to the locals there and everyone always says the Flamingo has the best poker dealers. I think you just had a bad experience, and keep in mind, this is one of the cheapest hotels for the location so you can't expect too much. I'm disappointed that they let your situation happen, but give it another chance, you might enjoy it the next time. If not, do what i do, when i get bad service, I give it another chance, and then boycott! Cheers!
