What I do
I work for a goverment contractor as an Electrical Engineering Technician. Working stateside I pull in a good amount of k's a year. I also work with my fiance in Home Healthcare ensuring she and her Nurse co workers have communication so they can do everything from there vehicles. And my involvement in that is what pays for the fun! One thing that I love is finding people to split the cost of bottle service with. When you have a group of people who have the, "Pay To Play" mentality it makes for a much better time in Vegas or wherever. Most recently I asked everyone to pitch in 100 a person for an event at Wavehouse for Skrillex and with 30 people came up with 3000 dollars. That payed for enough bottles for our crew and an amazing spot. That is one thing that I really wanna stress for AOD Members you gotta know you gotta pay to play no mooching.
One of the things I do when I am a guest at a table is just give the table commander a hundred dollar handshake one thing I have learned is key here in Las Vegas Day and Nightlife and a reason I get pretty much invited to everything.

I agree with you, I would never spend $10k on a single trip myself. What I was saying was, there is that group of people who make over $100k and live with their parents rent/mortgage free.Originally posted by IRockNvegas View PostI have averaged over 100k a year the past 5 years, this year will not be as good as the past, but either way I would not even consider 10% of my earned income for 1 Vegas trip. Maybe 10% for multiple vacations throughout the year , I pretty much do that.

To answer the original question: I've never dropped that amount in Vegas, but I usually go 3-4 days at a time instead of a whole week. I imagine 3k is just as easy to blow as 10k, it doesn't take a large imagination to spend that amount over there. I've definitely had those days in Vegas where I woke up, and checked my bank account thinking I spent 1 or 200, and felt a sharp pain in my chest to see those numbers triple.
So in short, the difference between spending a lot of dough there, is the difference between minding your wallet, or going HAM and literally letting the chips fallLong Beach Team Blackout™ Emissary (-_x)

it's all relative to what the person is willing to spend. you would think the person making lots of money will always tend to spend lots of money but this is not always the case. it's like the guy gambling blacks and lavenders at the table. he might have lots of money he might not. he could be a degenerate gambler that just spends his coin on action. ppl are willing to spend lots of money..even beyond their normal means for certain things. i have a buddy who splurges on fine dining...but he won't spend the same amount iof money on bottles at the club...another guy i know loves to gambles...spends tens of thousands gambling but doesn't spend elsewhere...same with watches, cars....ppl are willing to spend money on certain things...that certain thing to some happens to be nightlife on a very high levelOriginally posted by Sidekicknicholas View PostTo me that is still crazy when I put it in these terms....if you make $100k+ a yr, what is spending $10k on a weekend trip?
someone makes 100k (odds are they say that before taxes)... so they actually make 70k
10k on lets say a 7-day trip (1 week)
10k week / 70k year = 15% of that persons total income for the year.
1 week / 52 weeks = 1.9% of the person's total year
... I understand its vacation and you've got to let loose, and believe me I do it too...
I'm making less than 100k a year and spending about 7k a year on Vegas, so I am totally guilty of going nuts for that short week I'm there.
... thread missed my initial question, which was my fault (I worded it poorly)....so here we go again,
You guys who go to Vegas for 4/5 nights and spend 3k+ a night each night just at the clubs, what do you do? I picture those who can afford to go that crazy are old and boring... clearly not the case. More/less trying to picture a AOD member at a job somewhere.... like does my doctor slip away on the weekends to blackout in Vegas?

ya same here. Not for 1 trip. thats nuts. LOL. We may do a total of $10K on 2 weeklong trips for the family somewhere + vegas 5-6 times a year. We spent $3500 per person on a Tahiti trip a few years back. To us that is alot to do for a vacation. You just have to think that those people that live in other countries, $5-10K is kinda like their Tahiti getaway. To them its as foreign as Paris and Japan is to us. So they go all out on something they dont frequent.Originally posted by IRockNvegas View PostI have averaged over 100k a year the past 5 years, this year will not be as good as the past, but either way I would not even consider 10% of my earned income for 1 Vegas trip. All you have to do to help manage expenses is gamble and win. It's pretty simple.Vegas Trips to-date:

We definitely have members who are big spenders, and yes most are foreigners, but not all. Just read the TRs. A few members get Dance Floor tables. This forum started out revolving around "how to get in the club without BS", but now a lot of members get BS. I used to be a guestlist junky, but after I started hanging out at Coltons tables, I decided G/L wasnt as fun. And thats how it happens to most.Blackout Artist

Its about planning. I, as of 2 weeks ago ,have started saving for a march trip...april at latest. I have broken it down by week and am saving a 100 a week. U make the sacrifices and its all worth it when your trip nears.Grizzled Vegas Vet:

Here's a tip. Be hot and have a vagina.Originally posted by Slurms View Postthat said, dropping voracious amounts of money isn't the only way to have fun in Vegas.. It's definitely the way to maximize/guarantee fun there, but I've had just as much fun there dropping $200 (not including travel) as I did dropping $600 on a weekend.
here's my frugal approach:
- if you're going with a large group: split everything. Cost of gas (for those close enough to drive), suite price, taxis, etc.
- we have the luxury of being able to pre-game anywhere on the strip. Buy a bottle from the store, and carry it with you, just time it to where you'll finish right before you get inside. Once you're in, buy the cheapest beer to sip on, you'll be too fucked up for anything stronger anyway.
- as far as sustenance goes.. I'm a big fan of my 2,000 caloric intake at Hash-House too, but when food isn't a high priority: nothing beats a case of Ramen back at the suite.
If anyone else has more "having fun on the cheap" tips in vegas, I'd like to hear them!

man its hard to save when you have group of friends that go almost every week. Someone is always going to Vegas during the summer here in SoCal. LOL. Its like you barely recovered from the weekend a few days ago and by midweek a different group of friends are going. Its hard to resist. haha.Originally posted by Dean of Selection View PostIts about planning. I, as of 2 weeks ago ,have started saving for a march trip...april at latest.
