  • Advice/Opinions needed

    Background:
I've gotten tables at Vegas clubs many times, but I am completely new to the day club pool scene. There are three guys including myself going, all early 30s, sort of a mini bachelor party. We get in on Thurs July 16 around 9 pm from the east coast. We leave early afternoon on Sun July 19. We are staying at Caesars and definitely want to do a pool party either Fri or Sat.

    Few questions:
    1. We have three guys, what are our seating options and what do they typically cost? (I'm guessing couches or beds, but I don't really know the pros and cons or either)
    2. Does the price for the aforementioned seating options vary greatly between Fri and Sat?
    3. Are there any specific day clubs one would recommend for a group of three guys? Music doesn't matter, just looking for something fun and not extremely slammed, but not empty either.
    4. What are your thoughts on the best out of: Tao Beach, Drais Beach, Marquee Day Club, Liquid, Daylight and Foxtail pool (I'm assuming these are 2nd tier spots, all A- or B+s)?
    5. Is a $750 min a reasonable budget and would we be able to get something decent seating wise for it?
    6. Which day clubs have outdoor gambling? I think EBC and MDC do. Not sure if I'm missing any.

All your comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated. I'd love to show my buddy a great time in the city I love for his last hurrah. Thanks!

There are others on the board with more experience, but I have some and will offer what I can:

    1. Most places you are looking at a daybed, which should be plenty of room for 3 guys to use as a home base and also bring over some ladies. EBC also offers small tables on the patio next to Andrea's (but they are going to be out of your budget), and Drais has small pool deck tables. Most elsewhere, though, tables are a little bigger/more expensive than daybeds and you don't need the extra space for 3 guys.
    2. It varies a bit, but not a huge amount. I highly recommend you download the app Discotech and spend 5 minutes getting a basic feel for the prices at the various dayclubs for those 2 days. Then narrow your search and reach out to hosts. You might get quoted different numbers when you text hosts, but the app is good for getting a sense for the relative prices between venues and different seating options.
    3. For a group of 3 guys, I wouldn't recommend trying to go somewhere "not extremely slammed." If you are spending the money and you've never been to a dayclub, really go for it and try to find the best party you can within your budget. You'll have a better time at a crazy party than a half empty pool (see below re: Foxtail).
    4. I have never been to Foxtail but I have not heard good things about it, and it looks pretty empty in the photos that get posted on Spyonvegas.com. The other ones you list are all in the B+/A- range you mention. Drais, Daylight and MDC are at the top of that range, and Liquid is at the bottom (IMO of course).
    5. For $750 you should be able to get the lowest level at Liquid or Tao, and maybe some of the other places on Friday. I would consider bumping the budget a bit if you can and reaching for something like a pool deck table at Drais on Saturday, or a daybed at MDC on Friday, which should both be in the $1k range. I would also definitely think about doing presales to EBC or Wet if you can't find a good BS option within your budget.
    6. EBC and MDC have gambling. Hard Rock does as well, but I would skip that in favor of the better parties. I'm also not sure about any others (can't think of any).

Let us know what you decide and how it goes!

          2. Prices can vary greatly from Friday to Saturday.
          3. Most pools don't tend to be slammed on Fridays due that being a day when a large number of people are coming into town.
          4. MDC, Drai's, Tao Beach, Liquid, Daylight, Foxtail currently
          5. $750 you should be able to get a deck table at Drai's Friday, a day bed at MDC right be out of your budget. A daybed at Tao Beach or Liquid should be within range though.

Henroc, I'd say our budget is $1200 or $400 a person. I figured a $750 min with tax, gratuities, handshakes etc would get us close to that number.

ccc, thanks for the feedback. Just confirming that MDC, Drai's, Tao Beach, Liquid, Daylight, Foxtail is your rank order of preference on day clubs in that "tier"? What are folks thoughts on Tao Beach on a Sat? I'll inquire about MDC and Drai's from hosts price point wise as well.

Most people would put EBC and Wet Republic above all of those options, however, the ones you listed would fit your budget better.

I'm going to assume OP means Thursday July 16 through Sunday July 19. Otherwise if OP means June then the days of the week are wrong and he's coming in during EDC, when prices are through the roof.

Also, no way is MDC "2nd Tier". Even on off days with lesser-known DJs and tough comps, you're not going to get deals there like you would typically at Tao Beach / Drai's / Foxtail / etc.

                    Thanks Ryan850.

avseg, good catch on the dates. I have updated the original post. I'll check into MDC. Looks like Tao Beach and Drais are going to be decent options. My assumption as that either place on a Sat will be fun right?

On Friday, with just 3 guys, you should be able to get a spot at any of them within your budget with early arrival. EBC and Drai's will be patio tables though. Wet would be the only spot I'm not sure about but with it being such a big venue, it doesn't hurt to ask as they would have plenty of empty spots anyways on a Friday.

I would like to chime in with the idea that meeting other forum members and trying to line up splits when you are in town is a great idea to help keep costs down. See if anyone else is coming to Vegas at that time (me! haha) and well the more people you have, the less each pays. I agree with the earlier advice on going to the best pool party you can afford and not settling for second-tier. Since this is your first pool experience you definitely want to see what it's all about - it's not by chance that these are the #1 thing in Vegas.

Honestly, if you've never been to any of the pool parties, don't settle for second tier. stick to ebc or wet. Check the "get connected" section and meet up with other people that are going to be there for splits. will save everyone money and will make for a much more enjoyable experience going to the top tier pools. Also, you'll most likely connect with vegas vets who can inpart some of their wisdom

how does a Patio table compare to a beach couch at EBC?

We are planning to go on Friday 10th July for TJR.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not, but that budget works for the lounge chairs at MDC on a Saturday... I've always been able to get 2 for a $500 minimum. And to be honest, outside of the fact that there are 2 chairs instead of one flat surface, their size difference to the daybeds are minimal.
