It's odd a club like MDC is slacking this bad with the official pool party opening date and dj.
Encore and Wet announced it over 3 weeks ago and MDC just finally announced March with soft openings.
I don't get it...I am meeting with a bunch of friends from and they just finally bought tickets to Encore for Guetta in fear when MDC decides to let us know the week we're going (first weekend in April) will not be the opening weekend like it has been the last 3 years and the DJ not so good. We all rather MDC but prices will most likely go up for Guetta as time passes and who knows who MDC will have that Saturday.

Anybody know how Eva Shaw is? She is playing at Wet that Sunday. I usually do Wet on Sundays but it is def a drop from C Harris.

I'm just guessing but it could have something do with the whole hakkasan/light/marquee thing
Meaning is hakkasan taking over daylight or is tao group taking over daylight
From Daylights website it says hiring is taking place at Hakkasan so I guess Hakkasan got daylight.
And Axwell is booked at Omnia
But Alesso is booked at Marquee so my guess maybe Marquee pool opens with Alesso?

Basically all djs residency are set so that is something to think about.

I am almost positive MDC did not announce its 2014 grand opening with Kaskade until early March.

No, def in Feb. I went back to my email to see when I purchased tickets for Kaskade for MDC opening and Marquee that night. The confirmation email was towards the end of Feb and I most likely did not buy them right when it was announced

Marquee is usually last to announce. Also, Wynn, Hak and SBE have their lineups for the year set already. Tao group will book a DJ or set up a residency on the fly in two seconds. Does it make planning more difficult, sure but their results say it's really not hurting them. Their expense for DJ talent is probably half of Wynn or Hak.

Fair point. I do think long run it could hurt them and lead to XS, HAKKASAN and EBC. Eventually the big name DJ prevails.

Wow, MDC released April DJs and it is really weak in my opinion...... Of course the only date they did not announce was the Saturday I been waiting for (first in April) they have every Friday, Sat and Sun released but April 4. Pretty odd, but maybe they are working on a big name????????????

I like Audien and Triton and the April DJ schedule is about the same quality as March but yeah by comparison it sucks. Your ONLY hope is that April 4 will be the grand opening and they are holding out to announce a big DJ but, really, who would it be? My guess is nobody big. I think Marquee has decided to exit the big name DJ war.

If that is what they want to do, they'll be fine but they better know in short time they are not going to keep the image of a strong party and EBC and Wet will distance themselves.

I was really stunned....I like MDC a lot but I rather go to a place with a top tier DJ...I can deal with staying with them if the other place has a top DJ that I like better, but not this???????????? We'll see if at least maybe that Saturday they have somebody big. I will be ok with Dash Berlin and he does play night before and like I said Alesso is in DC that Friday and Montreal that Sunday.....don't know if he can do DC to Vegas to Montreal in a 3 day span, but who knows.....I am better commiting to EB for Guetta at this point before prices go up....if I would have known It could be this weak I would have booked Wynn instead of Cosmo when I booked early Jan....oh well

It's a business decision for them. Like I said, the price tag for some of these DJs just isn't sustainable. That's why the mins and GA prices at Hak are so stupidly high. The DJs Marquee has are actually good DJs, they just aren't the mainstream pop names. If you lose 5mil in sales, but save 10 mil in booking fees that's just good business.

Completely agree short term, ccc, but we all know how quickly your club can go from tier 1 to an after thought if you stop caring about DJs and more about saving money. All I'm saying is they wanna be careful that they just don't abandon the importance of quality DJs. Sometimes u gotta spend money to make money.

They have quality DJs. Those DJs just don't have the public profile of the lineups at the other venues at the moment. People have been saying Tao would die for years, but it's still raking in the $$$ with much lower overhead. Do they need to pull in a few new 'big' names, probably just for appearances sake. I mean some of the big names (cough, Hardwell) are crap DJ's but their profiles are huge. Hell, LiFE has the best lineup of true DJ's, but they aren't exactly killing it.

Exactly the point though - Tao is definitely tier 2 now, and Marquee risks the same "fate." Not that being a tier 2 in Vegas is anything to scoff at.

Tao was 4th on the 2015 top 100 clubs by revenues. I know we all like to characterize clubs as tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, etc. but I think we all need to remember that we are a very small subset of the HUGE club scene.
