  • Host Tipping For Dayclub Reservations

Our group of 6 is headed to Vegas on Wednesday night and we've got two dayclub events scheduled. A beach couch at EBC on Friday and daybed at Tao Beach on Saturday. Since the dayclubs are a bit different than the nightclubs and I don't see the location being as much of a factor what would be a typical tip to our host from these venues. Do you tip before getting taken to your location or afterwards when you're paying the tab at the end of the day?

    Thanks for your input!

    Thanks for starting the thread

Tip when u are greeted by your host, if he or she gets busy u may not see them towards the end. Plus that way by tipping them first you know u will get the better service from the start. Any tipping at the end should be for your waitress and runner.

        Hey guys,

have a look on the following thread:
        http://forums.jackcolton.com/showthr...sive-Host-Tips

I know that this thread is more about nightclub host tipping than dayclub host tipping, but in the end it is always about the same - building up relationships with hosts. A higher tip offers you maybe some extra service for the day and also, and even more importantly, it keeps you in mind of the host for future trips.

Concerning the tip as itself I guess the common opinion in this forum is 10% - 20% of your minimum. Some tip less, some tip higher - it is up to you.

Hope this was a bit of a help
(If i was wrong, may some vets of the forum please correct me)

If you browse through enough tipping posts on here, you'll see anywhere from $75-100 per bottle, and since beach clubs have minimums I'd equate a $500 F&B minimum to be roughly one bottle. However, you should always tip with what you feel comfortable with. If it's more than that great, if less that's fine too. There is no set rule. Just remember that for the hosts, this is how they make their living.

In terms of when to tip, I'd ask the host you're booking through if they plan on walking you into your table. If they are then I'd tip them then. If not maybe text them at the end of the night to meet up and tip based on how your day goes. The only reason I say this was that one time I tipped up front a fairly decent amount of money at EBC, and the host did not walk us in. We ended up getting put behind a flower planter, and had to upgrade from a couch to a daybed to get a better location. I know location isn't that important to you, and to me it wasn't but for the amount of money I tipped, I didn't expect to be behind a planter. My group was none too happy about that.

Tipping the day parties is about the same as tipping for the nightclubs based on min, location, etc. I've always had the host walk us to our table/bed and even asked to change on the spot before. Once I get my spot, that's when I usually tip. I've never tipped at the end cause you may not see them again.

On my last trip to Vegas a very popular host contacted me one morning and i was asking her about the tipping situation, her response to me was not to tip because in her words the hosts which work directly for the venues are paid extremely well. She said if i was to tip her she would actually refuse it. I am not going to name names. In my opinion if somebody provides u a level of service which u r happy with then certainly tip them what ever u feel is right, and what u r most comfortable with

You'll get a variety of responses from them saying "whatever tip you feel is appropriate" to "your spend min is $X and your handshake will need to be $Y". Not naming anyone specifically but I've had the latter happen at very popular clubs quite a few times. That's why it never hurts to ask up front so you can plan accordingly. As a general rule, we've always tipped hosts around 20-25% which is about $100 per bottle.

Here's my view on it. I always say make sure to tip the person you booked through and is going to be taking care of your group throughout the night. A lot of times that person may not be the person who you see at the door and walks you to your table. This happens a lot in my case. The only reason I'd ever give a sizable tip to the person that greets you at the rope and takes you to your table is if the tip is for a better then normal location upon entry or they are your actual host. This past weekend I wasn't able to greet any of my tables until after they were seated and one or 2 tipped the door host on entry but got the same location they were confirmed for prior anyways and no extra service from this person.

Good rule is to always stick to who you know and whatever was previously discussed. Throughout the night if you tip well, I always end up using it to add extra tip the the waitress, busboy, and security as well. And in most cases filter girls in and out of the table if requested. Of course, I'm one of the "whatever you feel is appropriate" kind of people.

As mentioned above, it depends on whether you want to form a relationship or not. The more you tip, the better the chance you will be "taken care of" on future trips. If you only come to Vegas every 18 months, I would save your money for the blackjack table.
If you have a host, I would text them the day before or the day of. Say "I have $150 for you. Will this get us a great spot today?"
If there are 6 of you, that's only $25 each.
Or say "What kind of a handshake do you need to get us a prime spot today?" Whatever he says, give him 10%+ more.
You already have a table reserved, so it "probably" won't screw you if you don't give him enough. There are probably quite a few people that don't tip the host at all (because they figure $500 for a $50 bottle + 20% auto grat is more than enough).

Noah, glad you brought this up. Man I can't tell you how many times I made arrangements with a specific host and get seated by one of his/her fellow hosts. I always assumed that you split it up at the end of the night and my original host got their tip. Is this not the case? If not, I'm going to start splitting the shit up more...

Whatever you tip on entry gets put in a pot and split between a ton of people at the end of the night. Your host only sees a small portion of that assuming they're working that night. If they're not on shift or just coming to hangout or make sure you're taken care of, they won't see a penny of what you tip to whoever's at the door doing walkins. I always say tip your host directly just to be safe, and if they want to or need to split it with whoever let them deal with that.
