Hi everyone, just wanted to share a brief report of a few things I did and learned on a recent trip, this month.
1. Went to the top of the Stratosphere to ride all the rides. Cost for this is $35, but for $36 you can ride unlimited, for the rest of the day if you want. Had a great time doing all of them, and would recommend.
2. Ate the Caesar's Bacchanal Buffet - oft-voted the best buffet in Vegas. It costs $60, features things like prime rib, lamb, crab, all kinds of Asian and Mexican dishes, desserts, etc. Definitely worth it. You might experience an hour wait before getting in though - they'll text you when your table is ready. Luckily there's a bar right outside the buffet, where I learned something I was somehow unaware of:
At most bars in Vegas, where they have the video screen poker/blackjack, if you put in a $20, you get comp drinks as long as you're playing. And you can bet $0.25 a hand on these, so you're not going to be down too much, but you'll be getting drinks a lot quicker than sitting at the actual table. Good way to grab a few quickly. Tip your bartender!
3. Went to Wednesday WetRepublic nightswim at MGM. Hated the place...there's nowhere to post up and chill...not even anywhere to lean on something! If you're not swimming, all you can do is stand, and that sucks. Lockers for your belongings cost $40.
4. Went to TAO Beach. It was excellent, had a great time.
5. Ate at Searsucker, right next door to Omnia at Caesar's. First, they brought out the wrong order to two of us, which then delayed the meal by another 30 minutes after waiting 45 min to an hour to begin with. Then, when they brought out the right order, the fish was incredibly overcooked and dry. You had to saw through it. The dessert offerings were much better, but I would not return here.
6. Saw Calvin Harris at Omnia. Omnia's main floor was a literal traffic jam. People are forcing their way by you, stepping on your shoes, you're waiting in lines to just walk through the place. It's nightmarish, despite how cool the chandelier and everything is. Calvin's performance was horrible - he didn't mix a single track, mainly the press play/next kinda DJ. The hip-hop room was a good time, as was the rooftop - the best part.
7. Saw Diplo at Encore Beach Club. I'd seen him before, but damn he put Calvin Harris to shame. He stayed an extra hour, and brought out Skrillex to say whassup towards the end. Very fun environment.
8. Ate at B&B Burger at the Venetian. Excellent.
It was a successful trip overall, will be back soon.
