Forgive me if this isn’t the best. I have been crushing beers and am now onto the scotch. First off for the last year I have been on this forum almost daily it started with researching things for a bachelor party and now I just love Vegas so much that it’s part of my daily reading. Thank you very much to everyone who posts and shares their knowledge. It does not go unappreciated. I enjoy reading other people’s TR’s so I figured I would post one even though it’s incredibly lame compared to some of the stuff that goes on in the threads.
After a bachelor party in Vegas in July I began planning something I had been waiting to do for quite some time. Getting engaged. I originally wanted to do Boston or another city we had visited (Chicago, Vegas or San Francisco), but for us Boston always held a little extra room in our hearts. Luckily for this post there was a massive MS convention going on in Boston the time I wanted to go so I turned my sights to Vegas. I was able to get flights from Toronto to Vegas direct for $510 a piece, from my research that was as cheap I found in the months of checking. Anyone else find something better? I booked and immediately got giddy. Shortly after booked at The Cromwell for a decent price. Started planning and I am proud to say she had no idea of the surprise vacation until I told her 5 days before. SCORE!
The flight was a nightmare. Flight delayed about 4 hours. Saw John Stewart in the airport which was cool but not worth for 4 hours of Vegas time! The flight was brutal. Turblence was as bad as I have experienced. There was a time or two where I was ready to go into my carry on and get the ring out because I was scared we were going down. I’m still here so obviously we didn’t go down.
Arrived at the Cromwell. Fantastic property. I was ready to try the $20 trick and had it in my pocket but got cold feet. I hadn’t read anyone trying it at the Cromwell. We were staying Tuesday and checking out Friday so I suppose odds were pretty darn good. Checked into our room. I have to say I love the Cromwell rooms, it’s dark and maybe a little cramped for a basic room but the furniture we both loved. Lots of leather. An hour later we were greeted with a welcome sangria. CRUSHED IT! I had set up a comp guest list with Chris Traer for the Yacht Club. It was one of the few things I had to do in Vegas. Looking back I might not have had to do it being a guest of the Cromwell but I didn’t see any mention of Tuesdays being free for guests on the site. Chris was great with the texts and we got in no problem. Thank you sir! Now I’m a bit older (31) and not a club guy but there is something about entering a club in Vegas that gets me every time. I felt that way my first time I entered Tryst and when we entered the Drai’s and John Newman’s “Love me again” was playing I got that rush like “we made it”. Hope it’s not just me lol. We dressed conservatively and regretted it! By the end of the night we wish we had dressed in our swimwear oh well. Crushed some shots and drank a lot of Macallan 12. Thanks to the bartender for the heavy pours, big tips early will pay in the end. Drai’s is honestly such a beautiful space and I can’t say enough about it. We ended up sitting with our legs in the pool having a great time. They had a massive net of beach balls over one of the pools. I was eyeballing them hard! Eventually they let the dogs out and people had a great time with them. Maybe nobody more than me! The next morning my shoulder hurt from my super spikes. I guess no pain no gain. We headed back to the room pretty tipsy and a beach ball as a souvenir! Absolutely fantastic time!
