We get ready to go To Drais. P, B, G and H are already grabbing drinks at some random bar in the Venetian. I made plans for a walk through with Chris Traer. Me and D meets the guys who had 2 o three rounds already and we head over to the Cromwell. Since we arrived to the Cromwell around 10:15, the guys wanted to do a quick round of drinks at the bar before going to the club. We saw a nice spot and ordered drinks.

While drinking, D taps me and all I hear is yo, glove. Why is a guy wearing a glove? It is hot outside? No, Look! The glove. I look, and a few seats away at the bar was Gary Payton! He was drinking with one of my friends. H, who grew up in Seattle sees him and his jaw drops. When Payton’s friends gets up and leaves for a second, H goes up to P and to say hello. Payton seems cool and we offer to buy him a round. He politely declines and seems pretty cool. Out of nowhere, H says, I loved playing as you and Shawn Kemp on NBA Jam growing up! We all just look at him like did you really tell the glove that!!! Payton laughs and after some more quick convo, we say bye and head to Drais.

We get into the club and make our way upstairs. The place is packed and looks awesome! We head to the bar and P buys the first round. He does feel well and decides to head back to the hotel. The rest of us walk around a bit and decide to head to the outdoor area near the pool. The views from this place are stunning. I thought Marquee had great views… Drai’s blows them out of the water. Jaw dropping views of the strip. We hang out near the pool and chat it up with a random group of girls. I a few minutes later I see two girls walking towards me waving, I don’t recognize them because I am tipsy and assume they are waiving at somebody behind me so I continue with my conversation with the group. The girls keep walking towards me and I realize it is the Dutch! They looked amazing in their very revealing skin tight dresses! Apparently D called them up and invited them to Drais. I forgot about them! This is what a good team is for!

D and I quickly break away from the group and focus on the Dutch. We buy them so drinks and chat with the pretty much the rest of the night. At some point in the night some popular EDM song that B likes comes on and I see him drunkly climb on a group of guys table and start dancing to the song. The girls that were near the table started dancing with B! For some reason, the guys at the table don’t say anything... I think they are just as shocked as we were! At the end of the song, security kindly escorts B of the table! Not before he grabs one of the girls though. I don't see him for the rest of the night.

B and I walk over to an empty table near the pool area and sit down to chat with the Dutch. We divide and conquer. A few minutes later a pretty latina is walking by our table and tried to high five the dutch girl I was talking to. The dutch girl gives her the cold shoulder, so I give her a high five and as she passes by in good faith. She (very smoothly, grabs my hand sits down next to me) She says, I never do this but think you cute and wanted to chat with you. I promise I am not a hooker. Funny, she gets bonus points. For a split second I debate switching from the Dutch to the Latina.... they are both hot and D is winging for me, so I know he wont care either way. Since I started working on the Dutch since Encore Beach, I decided to stay the course. I tell the new girl I don’t wanna be rude to my guest (who is trying to play it cool and not look my way during my convo but I catch a few daggers she is throwing the girl) but I have another guy she can talk to! AFter some persuading, she agrees
I pop out of my seat and run to grab one of the guys so the ratio of guys to girl is even. I didn’t see B, so I assumed he left earlier with the girl he pulled from the guys' table. I look for G and he is gone... heck, I even look for H and he is nowhere to be found. I shoot G a text and ask where they went. He said they all left an hour ago to do some gambling and eat some food! I tell them to send one of the guys back to help out, I have a hot girl waiting for them... apparently they are preoccupied with a group of women they met wherever they are at. I go back empty handed to the latina and tell her my guys dipped out! She asked if she is sure I don’t wanna hangout with her... I think about it for a split second, but as pretty as she is... I don't come around hot dutch girls too often, so I go with that. The latina says too bad, gives me a friendly hug and kiss on the cheek and heads off.

We continue to drink and dance at Drais and kiss a little. We watch some drunk girl dive in the pool in her party dress, and the crowd goes wild cheering!! A few other girls join. Interesting site. Around 3:00 a.m., D suggest that we go to check out Drais afterhours and we roll out. I shoot Chris Traer a text to get the contact for Afterhours but don’t hear back right away. We see the line is pretty long and there is a bar area right before Drais afterhours with good music so we hang out there and dance a bit. We stay there until close and all decide to head back to the Palazzo. We decide to walk back, much to anger of D who isn't big on walking... and isn’t completely sold on the Dutch friend. Me and my Dutch girl are enjoying walking back since it is nice and warm outside. D spends the entire walk trying to hail down a gab. A friendly bystander informs him that gabs only stop at hotels to pick up passengers. We end up going to grand lux for a quick bite to eat.

D lets me know that one of the girls he met at MDC the day before hit him up and wants to meet up at Spearmint Rhino.... D's favorite strip club. Being the good wingman he is, he stays with our group and orders some food at Grand Lux... We are all talking and having a good time when all of a sudden, the girl that D was talking to just kind of says she is pretty surprised that we are so educated and make decent money since she always saw all black people as lazy.... and good for only sex... WHATTTTT. My jaw drops... D gives me the look... he says he is out! In my head im like noooooooooo. The Dutch girl I spoke with apologized for her friend and said she didn’t mean it like that.... I just shake my head since I know I wont be closing at this point with D bailing and the two Dutch girls not wanting to leave each other. I invite the dutch girl upstairs to chill, her friend starts complaining about being tired and too drunk to make it back by herself... I offer to pay for her cab to take here wherever, but she says she doesn’t wanna leave without her friend, she needs her to take care of her blah blah blah. Guilt trip works, Dutch girl I was talking to apologizes but says she cant leave her friend like that. I say bye and give her a hug.

I shoot D a text talking shit to him for bailing (even though he was in his right) and he tells me he would care if he wasn’t getting the best VIP room treatment at Spearmint Rhino... he proceeds to send me a pic with a giant boob in his mouth... not sure if it is the strippers or the girl he met up with from MDC that went to Spearmint with him... Good for him. Wish I had that latina's number! But Vegas is all about gambling... you win some you lose some.

I head back to room and pack up since I am leaving tomorrow. I wake up in the morning and call up D to see if he is ready. He tells me he feels like staying an extra day. I look at the cost of the tickets and my work calender.... it isn't feasible for me. One way tickets are gonna set me back $500 after change fees and other cost plus $200 for the hotel. D takes out $400 and walks to a roulette table and puts it on black. Of course...it hits black. He has $800 and makes the change. He is staying! I don’t have that much of a stomach for risk so I put down $100 on black. I get it. Im not at $200. I put it on black again. Red. Fuck it, I head to the airport defeated. Get some messages from the Dutch girl apologizing and wanting to meet up tonight at nightswim. I tell her im headed home. Get messages from other girls I met heading to nighswim I look at my phone and head up on the plane with my head down.

I arrive home and D hits me what the guys should do tonight. They did Tao Beach Sunday and said it was dead. A part of me wants to send them off since I am jealous... but decide against it, especially since D is a great wingman, so I put them in contact with Bobby D who walks them into XS. They guys tell me that was hands down the best thing they have ever done in Vegas and I should have stayed.. blah blah blah. They saw he Dutch there, and a few other familiar girls... I say I don’t wanna hear it and enjoy the rest of their time... Oh Vegas...

I don't blame D at all. It sucked for you, but anyone who states that is ignorant/racist/clueless/an ass...the list goes on and on. IMHO and don't get pissed, D "is a great wingman" in your own words...I would have rolled with him once he said he was out. At that point the deal was dead and it was time to move on. Potential hook up or not the numbers were against you with the racist there. It's Vegas, there's always more to meet.

I had a bud from Netherlands join my fraternity in SoCal and while he was book smart he literally knew NOTHING about any kind of common sense street courtesy etc. He was incredibly nice though but some of the shit he said was just clueless. He also grew up in private school in a far away place.

That sucks that happened though. I would have just countered and commented on how I'll change her mind about one thing but keep it the same about the other etc.

Good shit, agree with a few others observations that certain parts of Europe are more ignorant rather than racist when it comes to social interactions with other cultures. When i was playing ball in Europe i had to learn the difference pretty quickly and choose my battles on that front. Lol.If I had to guess the chick had little inclination that what she was saying was offensive at all. Can't say I blame your dude for bouncing though, waaaay too many options in Vegas to put up with that, there are limits to being a good wing man, seems like literally "bitch killed his vibe" lol.

All in all it was a great trip and I met a lot of cool people from all over. I got a whole handful of message from what seemed like every girl I talked to over there that weekend, the morning after XS Nightswim saying how epic it was and asking why I wasn't there... Sometimes the toughest part of Vegas is realizing, there isn't enough time to do it all... There is always next time. The Dutch girls were in the states for two more weeks (for a total of 4 weeks in America... I haven't had that long a vacation since freshman year of college. Americans need to learn how to vacation from team Europe). While back home I hit up the Dutch girl I and told her I had a great time too bad the night was a bust. She agreed. I convinced her to fly out to my hometown for a a weekend so she can see a great american city that isn't on the coast. She booked her ticket and flew out. Had a great time and sealed the deal of course. Hit up some clubs here with her and some of the Vegas crew guys. They referred to her as Heineken the whole time (since she was imported from Holland, albiet through Vegas). Although my friends gave me a hard time for not leaving Vegas in Vegas... Well worth it. In two weeks I'm flying out to Amsterdam for 4 days, her treat ... So I guess I made the right choice making choosing her over the Latina girl after all.

I did speak to H about his egregious violation of guy code... He gave a lot of excuses and a half assed apology... Needless to say he won't be rolling to Vegas with me again... I appreciate my wingman after vegas trips a little more each time...All in all a great trip, Then again, Vegas always is! Thanks for reading.
