My first trip report, hopefully won’t be my last. Me and my buddy go way back, been friends since 1994, we’re both 31 now. We were out having a drink in our hometown and he’s been to LV many times, this would be my first time. Check flight prices for fun, dang $200 round-trip to LV … next thing you know, we’re sitting at the gate waiting for our flight two weeks later.
Wednesday, our flight arrives at 5:00pm and it does promptly. Grab our bags and taxi to PH. Made sure to tell the guy not to take the tunnel. He laughs… so I’m sure he was going to had we not said anything. Arrive at PH and the check-in line is somewhat long. All good, we start chatting about what we’re going to do tonight after check-in. Get to the front and slide the guy a $100 sandwich. He says “oh why thank you” and quickly pockets it. Ask him “you don’t happen to have any complimentary suites available do you?”, he proceeds to click-clack away at the computer and comes back to whisper to us, he’s got this large 1100-1200 sq ft suite that usually goes for an additional $350/night on top of the rate we paid, but if we want it, it’s ours… DONE! I try to eke out a little bit more from him, asking to see if he can do anything about the resort fee but he says unfortunately not. Oh well, he does give us a $25/day food & beverage credit and we’re on our way upstairs. Neither of us have stayed in the PH suites before, so as we’re walking down the hall.. we start to realize our room is the double-doors at the very end of the hall. Go in, and wow… this suite is nuts and we’re definitely going to have some fun times here. We’re talking panoramic windows looking on the south strip, fridge & bar, hot tub Jacuzzi open to the main living area, huge bathroom with a f*ckin bidet.
At this point we were starving because we didn’t eat anything before the flight or on the flight so we head downstairs to eat. Since we had the $25 credit, we figured might as well use it up. We head to BURGR and the food wait was a little long but it was definitely delicious. Head to an ABC store after that to pick up some alcohol and mixers and other things and head up to our room to start doing some shots and loading our flasks to start looking around the strip. On our way up, we run into these two definitely 8-9 blonde girls around the same age as us just a couple rooms away from ours. We exchange smiles and hellos as they are opening their room (#1608)… but for whatever reason we didn’t say anything further. Probably the biggest regret of the trip hahaha… it becomes almost like a “the one that got away” thing for us for the remaining part of our trip as we walk past their room every day hoping to run into them again (spoiler alert: we don’t see them again).
We hit the strip and decide not to venture too far. We had lined up Light with Nick (VIP for Free) for limo pickup at midnight and it was already 10pm. We cross the street, take in a Bellagio water show and head inside where we proceed to clean up at the tables in as little as 15 minutes. *high-five* Pretty buzzed already, won party/drinking money for tonight… we head back and decide lets grab a bottle to do shots with everyone who’s going to be in the Nick’s party limo tonight. His driver Colin is downstairs promptly at 12:15am and there’s about 10 ppl already inside so we proceed to do shots and drink as much of this bottle as possible on the ride between PH and M-Bay.
Arrive at M-Bay and proceed into Light without cover charge or waiting (thanks Nick!) while there were hordes of people waiting to get in. It was amazing in there and definitely fun. We chatted up these two girls from New Jersey and thought we hit it off but one of the definitely was not interested in us. That’s a shame, the other one stayed with us to chat almost all night until mother hen came and said it’s home time. We leave Light around 3:30 and in our drunken state, attempted to walk back to PH hahah. Things always appear closer than they really are in Vegas (in a drunken state). Ran into some random guy from Iowa who proclaims he can pick up any chicks he wants… so we take him up on that bet and grab a taxi with him back to Cosmo to see if he can score a chick. Nope! He failed so many times that we couldn’t help but laugh at the guy at his attempts. We end up ditching him shortly after and head upstairs to Secret Pizza. Ran into these three girls from Arizona who were here celebrating one of their 21st birthdays. Chatted with them while we all ate, we each had one slice while two of these girls hoovered an entire pizza covered in ranch dipping sauce hahaha. They were all pretty skinny, so it was quite the sight to see LOL. I’m guessing they starved themselves in the weeks leading up to this LV trip. :P We head back to PH and off to sleep around 4:30 or 5. Along the way, we pass by room 1608 joking to ourselves that they would by chance open the door, we’d ask them to come party in our suite, and that they’d be game…
Thursday, I wake up around 8:30am starving but my buddy is still fast asleep. Head downstairs to grab an Earl of Sandwich breakfast bun. Delicious! Try my hand at the tables (single deck blackjack is my game) afterwards in hopes of waking my buddy up by making it rain in 100s with newly gained party fund… but it didn’t work out that way. Came back up with a lighter wallet instead. Buddy is just waking up now and so we’re discussing what to do today. Find out some friends from back home are in the same hotel and so we decide to meet them at the PH pool to catch up and grab some rays. Nothing special there, and so back to our room shortly after where we get ready and do some more gambling on the strip. Grab another Earl sandwich, walk to Caesars, Venetian, etc and back, stopping at every casino on the way to test the waters. Lady luck was not on our side today, as she obliterated our gambling account for the day during this walk hehehe. Grab dinner at… yes.. Earls again hahaha. (it’s that good, and we didn’t GAF because it’s just us two anyway, we didn’t have anyone we needed to impress LOL). Tonight’s plan was Hakkasan again with Nick (VIP for Free) and so we catch a nap before tonight’s festivities. Unfortunately the limo service wanted to pick us up too early for our liking, so we opt out and just take a taxi to MGM on our own. Get there and as instructed by Nick, we proceed to the Staff Guestlist line where they take us in within 1 minute. Hak was beautiful and so was everyone inside. Had some drinks and chit-chatted & danced with some girls, and one girl was particularly cute and dancing her shoes off… but she was definitely mollied up haha. I ask her what she was on and where we can get some too, but she can barely hold a convo. LOL #vegas
Left Hak around 3am and being the degen gamblers we were, hit the tables at MGM, while partaking in the scenery as people were leaving Hak for the rest of the night. One girl was getting worked on by paramedics and as soon as they were able to wake her up, she’s fighting with them. They ended up tie-strapping her into the wheelchair. Tsk tsk… some people just can’t handle Vegas. Headed back to PH around 4:30 and passed out cold.
Friday, we originally had plans to go to Encore Beach Club but we didn’t feel like dropping cover + money for drinks today. We decide we’ll do some more gambling and drink for free, in which we proceed to do so. After some ups and downs, I end up even while he wins pretty big. We grab lunch at the PH buffet (remember we’re milking the food credit) and take a daytime walk on strip towards the south. Admire all the beauties inside Cosmo and we get in some shopping too. More gambling, more drinking. Dinner at BURGR again, just cause we were now finding we did the best at the tables at home (PH). Original plan was XS for Deadmau5, but we decide to we want to see some rippers and we end up at CH3 for the remainder of the night. Crawl out of there around 3am smelling like 100 different perfumes
, grab some Fatburgers and socialize with the other drunks. Fantasize about running into the girls in 1608 one last time on the walk to our suite, maybe they’ll come out and party with us til our flight leaves. In bed around 5:30am, up at 7:30am to catch our flight home.
Notes:
- We didn’t do bottle service but quite frankly with just the two of us, we didn’t feel like we needed it. We weren’t hunting out there in the clubs but we were still able to have a good time and chat with lots of interesting girls.
- VIP for Free is the best. No cover, no lineup as promised. Free rides too.
- Some people might think $100 sandwich is excessive, but whatever, it works out to $50 each of us. Our original room cost was only about $70/night, so it was next to nothing.
- We didn’t really diversify our food choices, but we didn’t care either.
- We didn’t end up having the big suite party of girls and Mike Tyson’s tiger like we anticipated, maybe next time.
- We probably didn't dayclub/nightclub party as big as most of you on this forum, but for us, we definitely had a lot of fun stumbling around the casinos and street drunk in the wee hours meeting the coolest/oddest/drunkest/hottest people. Hahah
- This forum gave us tremendous info on how to "do Vegas", and we went there with lots of plans and must-dos. But I've travelled quite a lot (spanned 4 different continents now) that I've learned when you're on vacation... just go with the flow. If you set up so many things to do and have super high expectations about it (winning BIG, scoring with super-hot chicks, etc), you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. We went to LV with ideas of what we would do, but as the days wore on, we basically winged it and still had the same amount of fun, if not more.
