2 married couples annual Vegas trip

Warning* This post doesnt inlcude all the VIP-bottle service-bachloresque vibe, but more of day by day account of what we experienced with just a bit of partying that we could squeeze in.*

Working on a video report, I should have posted by this weekend. Its about 18 minutes long.

Cast- Me, Wife, Friend, Friends wife (Nice and simple)

Day 1

Southwest flight leaving at 655am from San Antonio. Get to the airplaine and were sitting next to Jon Anik and some UFC fighters. There was a UFC event in SA the night before, and us being UFC fans, trip was startig out great. Arrived at 730am, took the shuttle to MGM Grand. Everything smooth. We go to check in just for the heck of it. Theres 2 clerks, one older male and one early 30's woman. I wanted to try the $20 trick in trying to upgrade both of our suites to a Marquee suite. Im hoping to get the woman because the man looks like a tough cookie. We get the woman, perfect! I tell her were checking in 2 seperate reservation but wanted to see if there are any upgrades to the Marquee. I handed over our Id's, credit cards, and a $40 sandwhich. She goes to the back to ask her boss, comes back and says she can do the Marquee with a pool table for $2k for 4 nights. I go over it with my buddy, we agreed its too much. I did see on a thread here that somebody got it for $600 for the whole stay. So I was hoping for that range. The 2k was regular price as I had saw the night before on the website. I ask if theres any other room upgrades, she says everythings full. I asked if she can waive resort fees, she says its not possible at this time. My last attempt is to ask for any vouchers with the $40 we put out. We got declined again. I ok'd our original reservation and put the $40 back in our pockets. We were told we'll get a text when the rooms are ready indiviually. Cool. We take off to the MLife desk to get our MyVegas comps (2 free buffets, $25 freeplay, 1 drink at Centrifuge, and B1G1 free entree at Wolfgang.) We play some craps at MGM for a while. Lost $100 quick so we get a quick bite at Mcdonalds and head over to NYNY for some vodka/redbulls and more craps. I gotta say, the craps dealers at NYNY were cool as shit while we were there each day.

We stop at the bar next to Coyote Ugly and get some Vegas Bombs. Bartender was cool as shit too. Caught our buzz and headed back to MGM. Played more craps. We got a text for my buddies room that his room was ready. We head on over. Rooms ends up being on the 4th floor directly on the roof where the AC's are. Not good. We get in our non-smoking room and its obliterated in obvious cigarete smoke. And someone left a half bottle of Smart Water on the small fridge. Friends wife calls to complain. Tried getting a better view, not an option, tried getting robes, instead they offered to leave the room and wait until 3pm when another room would be ready. We opted that. It was about 12pm. So there we go back to bell desk to hold luggage.

Meanwhile I tell my buddies I had a guestlist with Peter Nguyen at Wet Republic for Steve Aoki just in case they wanted to get the day started. They dont look so amused by it, so we end up playing more craps. I wanna give a shout out to Kaz because we had planned on going to Liquid and getting a daybed there, but because of the room occurence, I kinda figured it would be tough to pull off. I informed him by text. Thanks though Kaz! I get a text my room is ready. Head over and I get the room across the hall. Im a little frustrated but I opt to stay there because Im ready to enjoy the day. I tell my friends lets go to Wet Republic. They dont look so interested. Its 3pm now and I convince them to go for a few hours. We get to the door and guestlist is over (I figured) and its $165 for all 4 of us to get in. My friend says Fuck that and we go to the regular pool at MGM. We get a drink and Im sitting there wondering if I'll regret that decision to not experience Steve Aoki at WR. Im a big fan of his. I get up proudly and say ILL PAY FOR YALL, LETS GO!

We pay, get in and Im in awe. While WR gets a lot of hate on here, I liked it. It wasnt too big. Beautiful people everywhere. My buddy gets the 1st round of 4- red splash drinks in those blue WR glasses and Aoki hits the stage about 330pm. Were to the right front of the stage in front of the dancefloor beds. Its amazing. Musics loud, people are all there for the same reason. Im loving it. All hell breaks loose. 2 of those drinks later, were all blazed. Im talking drunk. Everyone was having a good time. Even my friends which werent so amused at the idea in the day were partying. I felt like a champ for pulling off such a great move. Aoki gets off about 530 and Mark Easton comes on, crowd starts to die down. Wife and friends wife are in the pool having fun splashing and taking pics and Im on the side enjoying the view No complaints here! Its not 630pm. Were hardcore buzzed, I tell them lets go gets some rest as I wanted to catch W&W at Hakkasan later that night. As were leaving, I realize Im way beyond drunk. So I stop at Mcdonalds and get food and somehow make it up to the room. My buddy still didnt recieve a text for his room, so he heads to reception area, gets his room and now hes set. Despite how bad that situation was, WR completely reversed my mood and I was now in the VEGAS mindset of partying! Went up to the room, have some fun with my wife, then somehow devoured a big mac, which I dont recall. I set my alarm for a few hours later. I can already tell its gonna be a rough night. Do we wake up in time for Hak?

To Dyur, nothing special about staying there. If anything, we were able to use our room key to cut down the middle of the pool area to WR instead of walking thru the conference walkway. lol

Day 1 Night

Before I continue, I had already had my mind set on going to Hak so I had a guest list entry with Peter Nguyen as well. I was hooked on W&W so I had anticipated coming here for a few months. Well, my alarm goes off. Its 11pm! I didn't hear the alarm go off the first couple of times. I remember looking over and wanting to keep pushing snooze. lol I got up and man, when I say I felt like I was hit by a truck, I mean an 18 wheeler. My body was hurting bad. The room was so comfy and cold, I almost didn't want to get up. I had read about all the hangover cures and what to do before you go out and get blasted, but to be honest, I didn't even think about that stuff when I got there. So I slapped myself and said "IM IN VEGAS BITCH!" Woke my wife up and she sluggishly drug herself out of bed. She was super hungover. I was bad, but she was worse. I texted my friends a few times with no response. Called them as well and still no response. So I continued to get ready. All said and done, we get to the guest list line at 1230am. lol Im thinking they probably will cut it off soon. But were in in 15 minutes. It was just us 2 so I was still determined to have a good night. We get in, I grab a water for my wife and 1 bud light and 1 water for myself. (For those asking, Hak sales Fiji water for $9 and Budlight is $10.) I never complain because its Vegas, we should all know better. I ask the wife if she wants to go to the dance floor so we can get nutty, but she says she's still hungover and doesn't want to. So we hang out next to the stairs and W&W takes their place. Awesome setlist. They played much of what I hear on Soundcloud from they're EDC and Ultra performances. About 1.5 hours in, my wife says she needs to hurl so she we both head to the rr. While Im waiting, I end up talking to an Aussie fella. Talk the shit for a little while and he's on his way. Wife comes out and says she's ready to go. Obviously those drinks at WR were to much for her lol. In a way I was a little upset but also proud because I knew my decision earlier payed off haha. So I take her up to the room and tuck her in and change and head back down to gamble the night. By this time, my buddy is awake and joins me downstairs for some craps. He tells me his wife had been puking for most of the night lol. Again, such a win on my part! I consider that a success. Thanks WR and Aoki!

Its about 4am and were pouring vodka/redbulls while maintaining at craps. Meanwhile, the walk ways are screaming with asian women. Did I mention how attractive asian women are? I look but never touch, besides, its Vegas. Eye candy is everywhere. Anyways, my buddy and I decide to walk over to NYNY and play some craps over there. Along the way, we run into some "working women" with generous offers, but eh, not worth the chance of an undercover. Played craps with a fella that I ran into earlier in the day. Took a pic with him which will be in the video as well. Walked out of NYNY going back to MGM about 730am. Suns out, and 1st night all nighted was a success. I didn't plan on leaving Hak that early, but I can't complain for the 1st day feeling like it lasted an eternity. I grab some more mcdonalds and head up to the room to sleep.

Coming up- Day 2- Shopping, Eiffel Tower Restaurant, Fantasy at Luxor.

Day 2. Wake up about 1130am, get ready to head out. My wife keep s saying she's not touching any vodka the rest of the trip. We take the bus down to PH and my wives splurges for a little while. Played some craps coming back to MGM Grand. Had lunch at Yolo Mexican Grill. I enjoyed it. They played upbeat music while we were there and I was much into the Vegas mode again. Headed back to MGM about 5pm to rest up. My friend and his wife had booked a trip to Bullets and Burgers so thats where they were. It was our anniversary so I had booked a window view at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris and we had Fantasy at the Luxor lined up. We head out about 7pm and arrive early to Eiffel Tower. I recommend this place if anyone is celebrating an event or wants to have a nice 1 on 1 with their partner. Elegant and the view was amazing. The Bellagio fountains were awesome. We were able to watch the sun go down and the lights turn on. The food tasted amazing as well.

We head down to Luxor to watch Fantasy. We saw Peepshow last summer and enjoyed it, sows didn't know what to expect from this one. But we paid $33 each from mycheapvegas.com so I wasn't going to complain. The women are very tasteful. Awesome routines from the single acts. The comedian was hilarious. His Michael Jackson impressions were the best Ive seen. I would definitely pay to see him in his own show if he had one. After the show, my wife took a pic with 2 of the dancers and I must say, they are extremely fit and beautiful. It was a good show, but I think I would choose Peepshow over Fantasy. Even though Peepshow no longer exists. The comedian brings those ratings up.

After Fantasy, its about 1230am and I had guest list lined up with CJ at Marquee for Eric D-Lux. He had texted me that his list ends at 12am and I remember what those 5 levels of stairs were like last year. The lines are crazy there so I figured we wouldn't make it anyway and head back to MGM to change and see what the night would bring us. We end up having some fun in the room and head back down to play more craps. At this point, Im already down for the entire trip on craps lol (in case you were wondering.) But I always take to Vegas what I expect to lose and have fun while doing it. I support the economy! End up pounding vodka/redbulls again and am intoxicated. Headover to NYNY and played again until 4am or so. All of us decide to hang out at the center bar in NYNY and play video poker and get comped drinks. An older man sat next to me and strikes up a convo. Needless to say, he was wasted beyond belief. He asks the bartender for a drink and she cuts him off. My buddy had an extra drink and hands it to him lol. The bartender does a lap and comes back look confused. She calls security and they come to question him. Security asks me if I know him. My response 'sir, I just got here and want to get drunk and play video poker" lmao The dude is very funny and can't remember his room number. We watch him get escorted off and finish our Rum Punches. I wanna shoutout the young bartender there at NYNY as she was funny and easygoing with us. Lost money everywhere that night. Head back to MGM and call it a night. As the trip was going, nothing that we had planned was happening in the order we thought it would, but it was fun being spontaneous. Im still having a blast. The read might seem uneventful, but I assure you it was a good day with off/on buzzes.

Upcoming Day 3- FatBar, MGM grand Buffet, Centrifuge, Monte Carlo, In N Out Burger.

Day 3 proved to be more eventful as still nothing was join as planned. I do want to let you know at this point that we still had 2 more days to go. I had planned either Drais Yacht Club or 1Oak on this night, but more on that later. We wake up about 11am and head down to the buffet. Used myvegas rewards. Nothing to rave about. At least it was free. We head to M&M and Hersheys store to buy some stuff for our son. Then head to FatBar to redeem our Groupon drinks. Drinks were good but its so damn hot outside that they're just melting away. We walk back up to MGM and put everything back in the room. My buddies wake up and we play some more craps. Lost some more, then we decide to head to Centrifuge to redeem our free drink reward. We arrive and its pretty chill. Mustve been at least 2pm or so. We met the bartender Chris and strike up a great convo with him between all of us. Seeing as how he went to St Marys University in SA, we were able to relate on some things. We play some video poker there and he makes them strong the longer were there. All drinks are comped but we tipped $20 each at the start. We ended up being there for about 2 hours. And again, all of us are hardcore buzzed. It feels great! We decide to go to Monte Carlo because we had a groupon for Minus 5 Degree Bar. As were headed down the steps by NYNY, my friend decides to bust out a windmill as he rode down the rails. lol caught it on vid and it was epic. At this point I can't really talk right, so we all know Minus 5 is going to trash us. The groupon came with 2 free drinks and 1 free shot each. We get to Minus 5 and ends up you need a 24 hour reservation for the groupon. Well ok, we reserved for the following day. (we never made it, more on that later) We somehow come up with the bright idea that we play craps and double our money and pay to get into Minus 5 anyways today too. You know how you think your thinking right when your drunk? lmao We pound more vodka/redbulls and actually go up about $50 each. We decide we are trashed so its not a good idea to do more inside minus 5 so we agree to head to In N Out Bruger. We catch the bus down there.

Shoutout to the guy trying to sell us weed at the bus stop. lol We make it to In N out and it is amazing. Much like Harold and Kumar on White Castle. It helped that I was drunk because that double double tasted amazing. We don't have an in n out in SA yet, so I relished the moment! By now its 7pm and were heading back to the strip. I realize that because of my drunkeness, I didn't watch the time and allowed ourselves to go past our nap time. I wanna thank Joey Orr at 1Oak for keeping contact because I had inquired about 3 months before about doing a b1g1 that night. My friends decided they wouldn't be able to pull their end of the bargain so I had to cancel. Also, I want to thank Michael Lichwa for keeping contact at Drais. He said they didn't have a guest list at Drais for Tuesdays so we were going to play it by ear. Both guys were respectful and definitely not pushy. thanks again guys, hopefully we'll make soon.

We decide that if we go to the room to change, were gonna fall asleep so we head to Mandalay Bay to see if we can catch some UFC fighters walking around since its UFC week. We play some craps in which I'm down again and take a break and just grab some drinks from the bar. We head over to an electronic craps table and teach some 70 year old lady to play. Then we pack it up and head to MGM. As were in the main walkway, I see this huge black dude from afar. Im buzzed so I figured it was just a guy. As he walked closer I realized it was Shaq! Dude was huge! He walked by with his girlfriend and 3 bodyguards. I even yelled "Whats up Shaq!" but he ignored me lol No surprise there. Its around 12am and my wife and friends wife decide to hit the sack. So me and friend decide to hit the casinos for some gambling. I figure if we would've got our nap in earlier, we all would've been good to go from either Drais or 1Oak, which I was looking forward to for the last few months. I call it a night around 4am drunk as usual.

Day 4- The worst news you could possibly get while on vacation.

Day 4- the day ill never forget. At this point, I'd hate to be a buzzkill, so if you'd like to stop now, I don't blame you.
I wake up at 9am Vegas time to many missed calls on my phone. Im slightly buzzed and barely opening my eyes. I get up and brush my teeth. I figure we have a long day today and tomorrow. I was looking forward to today because I wanted to check out Surrender after we saw KA. Plus I wanted to hit up Minus 5 and Wolfgang Puck still. I call my brother back and he informs me that my house burned down in the early morning. No one was there and no one was hurt. But everything was burned to a crisp. Sucks. My heart sunk. We didn't have house insurance and we lost everything. Im just happy no one was hurt. All of a sudden, the trip became a blur. Everything thins that had occurred within the last few days became absent. I knew it was too good of a trip to be true.

Anyways, I call Southwest and catch the next flight out in 2 hours nonstop to SA. I go down to reception area and explain the situation. They waive my resort fees and comp me the night I was unable to use. Thanks to Southwest and MGM Grand for helping me out. I know either one of them could easily be dicks, but it wasn't the case.

I contemplated not writing this report because I felt the trip didn't matter. But its 3 weeks gone now and I look back at every moment I had in Vegas. Im so thankful for all the smiles and the time I had. I am creating a video that has all the gropro vides and pictures I used along the trip. I called my buddy to let him know what was going on and told him they can stay to finish the trip since its no his problem. He called Southwest but they wanted to charge him $700 each to leave with us. No harm done, I don't blame them for staying.

Much like when the Twin Towers went down, I realize we'll get back on our feet again. Our trip was cut short by 2 days. Now that a few weeks have gone by, I feel the need to get redemption on Vegas! lol Ill be back next year Vegas. Not sure what time of year, but rest assured, Im going to come back and make another epic memory!

First off glad you and your family are alive and well. Man. Never thought of this but maybe it was fate that you came to Vegas and enjoyed yourself....otherwise you could have been in that house. Glad you are staying positive about the whole situation. Your next house will be bigger and better though!
