So, reading some of the previous Vegas experiences... my disappointment in our visit becomes even greater, lol.
We are newbies. Fascinated by the grand allure of Vegas, and ready for all the debauchery we could find.
While we didn't experience Vegas the way we envisioned, we did learn some valuable lessons for next time.
Lesson #1... JackColton.com !!!!!
(In almost 2 months of google and online reviews, I did not find this site until 2 days before my departure. Too bad as the resources here are incredible. This will be my primary source for info next time.)
Lesson #2... If we travel with friends again, plan to do what WE want to do, and screw everyone else! I'm a "planner". I like a basic itinerary for each day to help me maximize my time. Our friends preferred to just play everything by ear. We tried to vacation as a group, but their lack of planning wasted a lot of our time and it was my gf and I that left with a barely touched bucket list. They left happy because they didn't miss out on anything since they had no plans of doing anything. (This was an extreme case, btw. I couldn't get them to help decide where to eat dinner in two hours, or decide what club to go to that night, because it was "too much planning")
Lesson #3... Learn the rules of the popular table games BEFORE we get to Vegas. We spent a lot of time wanting to gamble, but too afraid to approach a table because we didn't know the games or the table rules or etiquette.
Lesson #4... DON'T rely on the bus system. We planned on walking the majority of time, and bought the multi-day bus pass for when we were tired, drunk, or in a hurry. Well, u cant bring your $20 drink onto the bus, and it takes FOREVER to get anywhere. Next time I'll plan on cabs for any transportation.
Our biggest "to do" activities were the mega night clubs and a day club. My plan was Surrender on Wed, Tao on Thurs, and either Light, XS, Lavo, or Marquee on Fri.
We let our non-planning friends talk us into a quiet night Wed, since we were all tired from travelling. We hit several smaller clubs, like Hyde @ Bellagio. They were boring and my exhaustion took advantage of my lack of adrenaline.
Thurs they convinced us that the "VIP party" at Hustler club sounded more fun than Tao. Come to find out it was because they had already purchased a ticket package and wanted us to split the cost. The party was lame and the bartenders were rude. We did salvage the night later when we left the roof party and grabbed a BS table downstairs in the strip club. Bought GF a lap dance, which was immediately proceeded with private dance lessons upstairs, leading to GF joining the stripper on stage. Yeah, she rocked it
Later, several dancers and servers asked us to join them after closing for an after-party, but our friends were already passing-out-wasted by 7am and we had to retire to our room before they started puking.
Friday we woke early, and went on our own while our friends were still sleeping off the booze. Took GF to check out the southern casinos. Met our friends again just in time to see Murray (comic magician) with tickets that came in the Hustler package. Then split off again for dinner and some pre-clubbing at Carnival Court. That club was cool, and the bartenders were awesome. We met another couple there and soon had us thinking we were gonna get lucky with some 4sum action. So we chose to stick around instead of heading to a nightclub. GF got some dirty girl-girl dancing and kissing and groping (much to the pleasure of the patrons around us, lol). We agreed to follow the couple back to their hotel room, but again the alcohol kicked in at the wrong moment and GF couldn't keep her eyes open long enough for any more fun. So, back to the room, horny and frustrated. I can't get mad though. She's a lightweight, and she drank like a champ the night before.
Sat we planned to hit a dayclub pool party for our last day in Vegas. After much indecision, and several failed group buys, we decided to get last minute pre-sale tix for Daylight. Then we really thought about the hassle of donning our swim gear (hers totally skimpy of course), checking out of hotel, storing our luggage with all of our clothes, actually getting to the pool club, return to hotel and change in hotel restrooms before heading to airport. We realized that it really should have been a Fri event, lol. Combined with the anxiety of getting into the party GA, and spending the whole day with no shade or seating... another "to do" down the drain. So instead we walked through the couple of casinos north of us, and then spent a few hours in the Fremont area. While we were there, GF noticed that the Golden Nugget likes to host their tables with hot, young, female table bosses. She's like, "next time, we're gambling HERE" heh heh.
