  • A Week in Vegas

Two of my friends and I all had big birthdays this year...So what else is there to do besides plan an awesome trip to Vegas! We had all been before but never for an entire week. But before we even left, one guy bailed. Apparently his girlfriend didn't like the idea of him celebrating in Vegas without her...F*ck it, my buddy and I weren't about to slowdown and worry about him. We had a Vegas to think about.

    Tuesday, June 11th
My flight from the east coast got in a little after 11:00am. After getting my bags and the quick cab ride to the MGM Grand, I was in line to check-in. Some kind of convention was check-in also so lines were long. I was dying to get the room taken care of and start enjoying my celebration. Finally, it was my turn to check-in. I had heard all the stories about how the sandwich doesn't work at MGM but I figured I had to try. The guy sees the $50 (I figured I need that much because of the long stay), smirks, and hands it back. He looks in his computer for upgrades but tells me they all cost extra (even a room with a view of the strip is $15 more per night). I had already paid for my room through booking with ***** ******** on the forums so I am not looking to spend a whole lot more. I decline the upgrades. He plays on his computer for a minute and says I will be on the 27th floor but the room isn't ready and won't be until closer to 3:00pm. Shit! I got a little less than 3 hours to kill.

I run to the bathroom to change, check my bags, and decide to get lunch. I run up to Planet Hollywood to check out Gorgon Ramsay's BUGR. Tuesday at a little after 1pm I didn't expect a line but there was one. Luckily since I was flying solo, I got to skip the line and eat at the bar. Food was pretty good and I will definitely go back.

After I finish eating, I head back to see if my room is ready. It's not. They say they will call me when it is. I am a little annoyed at this point but what can you do? I head out to the pool to get another drink and enjoy the sun. Finally, around 4:00pm my room is ready. I head up, enjoy the view while I am waiting for my bags.

My buddy gets in around 7:00pm and we head out to get the essentials (alcohol, mixers, cups, water, Gatorade, and snacks). Once the room is loaded with the supplies, we decided to grab some food. We ended up in Twin Peaks in Planet Hollywood. The food was nothing great but the waitresses outfits helped ease the pain. Back to the room to pregame. We decided to have a chill night and get drinks at one of the hotel bars. Met some cool people and just had a cool relaxed time.

    Wednesday the 12th
We get up on Wednesday and head to the pool to enjoy the sun and start making plans for our time. Our course, planning went better with a bucket of beer or 2. I head back in to try my luck at the poker tables before heading out. I played for over 3 hours - I was up by as much as $225 and down to my last $20 during the time but left the table up exactly $6...I guess I could look at that as a waste of time but I at least I was up.

We got tickets to go see Absinthe at one of those half-price ticket places during the day so we decided we were going to have dinner at the buffet at the Bellagio since neither of us had been there before. What can I say about the buffet? It is one of the best on the strip. Great food.

On the way into the Bellagio they gave us a buy 1 drink get 1 free for Lily...so of course we had to check it out. We walk in and notice two ladies sitting by themselves but continue on to get our drinks. It isn't long before we see them noticing us so we head over for a chat. After about 30 minutes it is decision time...either we leave to see the show or stay and see where things go. My buddy made the call, we stay. After another round of drinks, we move over to Hyde. It was a lounge night for Hyde but it still has a great view of the fountains and at least the tables we open. After a few more rounds we hit the dance floor...The rest of the story is redacted to protect the innocent and guilty!

    Thursday the 13th
Wake up the next morning around 10:00am...by some miracle, no hangover! My buddy also doesn't have a hangover and we know we off to a great start for our Vegas vacation. We head back to the pool for most of the day. In the afternoon I head back to the tables. I can't hit crap and drop more than I planned.

Our last trip out to Vegas we had dinner at Craftsteak and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. I know it doesn't have the atmosphere of STK or N9ne but as far quality of food it can't be beat. Again an amazing meal.

After dinner, we head up to the room to pregame a little. At around 9:30 we decide, f' it lets head over to Coyote Ugly. I know the place doesn't even register on these forums but I have honestly had more luck in there meeting women than any other club. I don't know what it is about the place, the guy/girl ratio is usually way out of whack but still has been a hot spot for me and my buddy. We have a few drinks and meet some ladies in no time. Dance a little but by 11:30 I am ready to head over to Hakkasan. We invite our new friends but they don't want to leave CU...oh well we are out of there.

Forum member Earlr had put us on the staff guestlist for Hakkasan. We find the line and see that it is even shorter than the presale line and moving at the same speed. We are in no time. I had read the mixed reviews about the place on here and other sites so I didn't know what to expect...but I absolutely loved the place! It is a huge club. The dance floor was packed, there were a few open tables but the ones that had people in them dance on the seats, the little walls, everywhere. People were dancing the aisles and on the stairs. It was impossible not to get swept up into the scene...and I am not even that much of a EDM fan. Met some knew ladies and danced and drank the night away. About 3:00 our new friends were ready to call it a night so we decided to head out also.

      Friday
We wake up the next morning and still no hangovers! After a bite to eat, we decide to head down to the pool. Now someone had stated on the forums here before I left that staying at MGM Grand allows you some privileges with Wet Republic...this is not the case. I asked about both Hak and Wet and was told MGM doesn't own these properties so staying there makes no difference. With that said on the way out to the pool, a guy was in the hall and gave me two passes for Wet Republic...a couple of lessons here: 1) I injured my ankle somehow so I was moving a little slow that morning so my buddy was a few steps ahead of me. He was wearing an old t-shirt, baseball hat, and trunks and the guy handing out passes didn't offer him any. I was dressed a little nicer and got the passes. If you're a guy, even going to the pool don't look like a bum. 2) the guys were not out handing out passes any other day we were there. I guess Friday doesn't really get busy until later so if you are there early you can get in free.

Anyway, we get into Wet Republic and it is not crowded. We decide to hit the bar and find a spot along the pool. After about 3 beers the place is starting pick up a little. As I said before, I am not a big EDM fan and this wasn't my scene. We stayed for awhile longer since there definitely some talent walking around...eye candy is always something to look for in Vegas. But after a few more drinks we were out.

We had a table set up for Light that night and didn't want to be too f'ed up to enjoy it. We grabbed some dinner at Hooters (we needed a cheap meal after the last 2 nights) and then back to the room to get ready. We had a low table minimum at Light so we needed to be there right at 10:00pm to get our table. Noah had called me earlier in the week to see if we could afford a higher spend because they weren't doing minimums as low as ours any more. I had said since it was just the two us we really couldn't. He understood and got our lower minimum approved by the boss. We made it down to Light right at 10:00pm and the guy at the ropes tells me he can't sit me unless I am willing to go up on my minimum. I texted Noah and he came over to talk to us. Unfortunately they we overbooked and no one under $1000 minimum was getting seated. Noah knew we couldn't swing it so he gave us the VIP walk in the club with no cover. It sucks we didn't get a table but Noah did right in my eyes. We all have bosses and this was a business decision. Noah did what he could for us.

Light is a completely different experience from any club I have seen. It is truly visually stunning. Everything from the giant screens to the lasers to the performers. It is a visual experience and I saw more people taking pictures in there than I have at any other club. We grab our drinks and watch the show.

        Saturday
Wake up a little later and decide to do the MGM brunch (used myVegas comp for this). After breakfast/lunch we decided to skip pool parties and just hit the MGM Grand pool for the day. The MGM Grand pool is much more laid back than Wet Republic with still a lot of talent walking around. We plan to only have 1 bucket of beers because we know we have a table at 1Oak that night. But sure enough we meet a group of women and after our first bucket we split two more with these 3 lovely ladies. At about 3 o'clock I go back in to try the tables. I decide on blackjack instead of poker. A bad decision. A couple of hundred later I was back in the room. We pregame a little and head out for dinner...I don't remember where we decided to eat.

After dinner, up to the Mirage to meet Joey Orr. I had arranged for a B1G1 table in the main room back when there were 3 of us going, now with just two we were looking at a bottle each. Joey told me they were going to start us on the dance floor but they may have to move us during the night to the table I had actually paid for...no problem! Dance floor here we come! We get to the table and the stripper pole is right behind us and we are set for action. This was the first time for bottle service for either of us and we saw it all...yes we were hit up by bottle rats, a hooker, but eventually found some real women.

I was sitting on the back ledge dancing a little and this girl taps me on the shoulder and said it was her dream to dance on the stripper pole at 1Oak...how could I deny a young lady of such amazing and far reaching dream? So of course I helped her out...she was so appreciative. She eventually asked if we could bring her cousin over to have seat...why not. Good times were had by all...

        Sunday
Sunday was the first day I was a little hurt. Somehow I remembered to drink 2 bottles of water and half a Gatorade before passing out or else I would have been hurting as bad as my buddy. Saturday night was amazing but it did kick our asses. I made it out of bed by 11 and my buddy just said I don't know if I will get up at all. I headed down for some food and then tried my hand at some 3-card poker. Finally, I won a little something and headed out to the pool.

We were planning on doing XS Sunday night but just didn't feel up to it. We went to dinner Nine Fine Fishermen. It was pretty good (used myVegas $50 comp to help offset the bill). Then headed upstairs to checkout Coyote Ugly again. We didn't stay long. Nothing was really happening and some real sloppy drunk guys were making a scene. Besides we weren't up for hardcore drinking. So we headed back to the MGM Grand a drank in one of their lounges. Another chill night.

        Monday
My last day in town so I wanted to do something I have never done. We headed over to the Gun Store to shoot some guns. We both decided on the Coalition Package which includes shooting a Beretta M9, a Remington 700, a full auto M4, and a belt fed full auto M249 SAW. Awesome time!

We headed back to the casino played a few slots (not really my game but my buddy likes them). I ended up hitting for $250. After a quick trip to the pool, we decided lets hit Olympic Garden early. We have hit a gentlemens club everytime we have been to Vegas but like to try a new one each time. What an experience! I have never been in a Vegas strip club before 11:00pm so getting to one before 6:00...it was pretty dead. Not many ladies there and maybe 10 guys. When we got there, a girl was on stage so we got our drinks and sat at a table. Before we could even sit down 2 ladies were on us. I like a little time to warm-up before I start getting dances and the girl I was talking to got it. She just chilled with us for awhile. Eventually I got a dance with her. About an hour in there were still probably 8-10 guys there but no girls were dancing on stage. I assumed they were all giving lap dances but it was this way for over a half hour and several girls came by to ask for lap dances...when is a strip club not a strip club? I guess when the girls at the OG feel like there aren't enough guys to make their money. On the east coast if you go to a strip club if there are even just 2 guys there, there will be girls dancing. It was just weird. I decided to get another dance from the same girl...and lets just say she offered to give me a private show later because "we had such a connection"...lol not what I was looking for. We finished our beers and learned that their limo only drops you off at the club, it doesn't take you back. We jumped in a cab and headed to Cosmo.

Our plan was dinner at the Wicked Spoon. We wait in line a finally get ready to pay and she tells us it is another 30-40 minute wait. We decide that is doable until she tells they will take the food away in a hour...so if we pay we wait in-line for 40 minutes and then only have 20 minutes to eat? No way. We are out the door. We decide to have dinner at Holsteins. Good dinner, good alcoholic shake. After that, my buddy has a myVegas comp for Minus5. We decide to walk down to the Monte Carlo from Cosmo...probably a bad choice because I have a jacked ankle but I am feeling no pain. I don't have much to say about Minus5. It is small, the drink was fine....I just feel like it was a novelty stop that now I have seen I won't go back.

My buddy then decides we should go to Marquee. F' that we just walked from Cosmo down to the Monte Carlo I'm not walking back. We decide to check out Coyote Ugly one more time. I remember buying a round and then my buddy handing me another round and the next thing I know we are in XS. No idea how we got there. I remember more drinks some dancing (or probably what my drunk ass thinks is dancing at this point) and somehow we make it back to our room. We decide since we are leaving tomorrow we need to finish all the alcohol in the place. I think we then went downstairs to the lounge/bar and drank some more...but it is a little hazy.

        Tuesday
I am up 10:00am...feeling a little hungover again. I grab a couple of advil and some water and start packing. My flight out leaves at 1:30 and its back to the real world.

Until next time Vegas! I miss you already.

You need to have a serious talk with your buddy that bailed.
His fricking girlfriend wouldn't let him celebrate a birthday with buddies in Vegas? Unless they have a kid together or she is loaded or she is a Vegas 10+ then he needs to get the fuck out now.
