Honestly, my first trip to Vegas was everything I imagined. I set extremely high expectations and seemed to exceed them all, except a few areas (ie. hotel room), but I'll get to that in a minute.
Friday- Head to Midway airport at noon to catch a 2pm flight. Going with my one buddy (who's been to vegas a good 20 times). Get to the airport, get through a long ass security check and finally make it to our gate where we decide it's time to start drinking. 30 minutes to boarding we start tossing down drinks and cracking jokes about our upcoming trip. We then board the plane, get seated and the drinking starts to pick up, we meet a few cool people on the plane and before you know it, we're approaching Vegas. Now that we're landed we snag a cab (crazy how long those cab lines are at the airport!) and we head to the sexiest hotel in Las Vegas, Bally's
.... After reading the upgrade sandwich thread, I decided to give it a shot. Knowing it's my first time in Vegas I wanted to see how far I could push. I give the young girl a $100 sandwiched between the CC and ID and ask if they have any complimentary room upgrades, she replies with yes and brings me a book. My first mistake is not knowing the difference between the South/North towers. I see a picture of the executive suite, its like 1700 sqft and has 2 rooms, a bar, couple bathrooms, etc... I say that one will do and I go up to my room in the South tower (bad choice). The room is beyond dated, but I gotta say, the room was probably cool in 1987. So the room is dated, the floor & couches have questionable markings on it and the bar is just insanely bad. For a brief moment, I was like "f***" but then quickly realized that it's funny bad and I accept it, laugh, and move on.
So, we're checked in, settled, and begin getting ready for the night. Joey Orr got us a dinner reservation at Stack and then we were going to 1OAK after to do bottle service. Stack was delicious, the service was great, and soon we were heading over to meet Joey to get the night going. Get inside at about 10:45ish and got a great table location, with a great crowd around us. Drinks started flowing, bottles started going fast and I soon realized I was sh*t hammered drunk. After a heated dance off with the structural pillar next to our table, I decided to start mingling with all the fun people around me, doing shots, telling stories, and before you know it it's 3am. By this time I'm done, one could even call it dangerously drunk, so I decide to leave without telling anyone good bye (something I'm an expert at). So I'm leaving the Mirage, alone, and decide to walk back to Bally's, unfortunately for me, I met my next match, a staircase, and ate it pretty bad, hahahaha... My right leg is a little jacked up, but I'll live. I finally make it back to Bally's, I don't really remember the walk, nor do I remember making it to my room/going to sleep, but I survived night 1 somehow. I guess my buddy I was with was a little freaked out, called 311, checked with the police, called my cell a good 20 times and was pounding away at my door to see if I was cool. He said he was relieved when I called him the next day.... Night one was expensive, fun, little reckless, and I would do it all over again, well, maybe not the staircase incident.
Saturday-
Feeling surprisingly well for the amount of liquor I drank the night before. Wake up around 11-12, call my buddy and say lets go grab food. We head to the Paris to eat lunch, Mon Ami something... forgot the name, the food was good, had a cocktail and a crap load of water. From there I head over to the sportsbook to get my bets locked for the Kentucky Derby. Watch the derby, lose all my bets, and decide its time to drink some more. We go to the Cabo Wabo bar and have a few appetizers and some more cocktails. We drink there for a good couple hours, the scene in there is dying down and we end up leaving. Walk the strip for a few and we decide to break apart for a couple hours, he wants to take a quick nap (which i believe means pay for an escort, but who knows), i go to the blackjack table and decide to gamble. While gambling I meet three girls from LA. One of the girls asks me where I'm from, I reply with "Chicago". She then asks "how is Florida this time of year?" I stare at her confused, saying nothing, when her functional retarded friend chimes in with "Idiot, Chicago's in Indiana". I laugh and then walk away... After 2 hours of blackjack I'm up a little over a thousand, so I cash out and head to my room to get ready for the night. Cliff Orr (Joey's brother) hooked us up for the night. We tried to get into STK at 8, but couldn't so Cliff got us a table at N9NE and we were honestly treated like kings in there. From free champagne, to free shots, and free appetizers, he definitely took care of us. The meal was delicious and our next move was to head up to Ghost bar for a quick drink and to see the Vegas skyline, with this being my first vegas trip I wanted to see it for myself. It was still early at Ghost bar so the place was a quarter full. So, we have a quick drink and then we head over to the Marquee to meet Cliff. I really can't say enough good things about Marquee, Cliff got a solid table on the patio with good foot traffic and in the middle of things. I know most people want to be inside, especially with Kaskade performing, but I much preferred the patio, especially with such a beautiful night. So it's about midnight at Marquee we've gone through a couple bottles and we have a couple more coming out. The nights great, people are having a blast all around me and all my neighboring tables end up joining parties together, we were honestly in a great area. At some point (around 3am I think) I have the bright idea to start buying bottles of champagne, sigh, waste o' money, but hey, its vegas... We left Marquee around 4ish, I think (things are blurring now) and we head over to a after hours party at Mandelay Bay. The party is okay, nothing special, but after a good 45 minutes I decide its time to find something else to do. I pull my vanishing act again and head back to the Cosmopolitan. There I meet a group of people from Detroit and Cali, cool people and we end up partying at the Cosmo. after a couple hours I decide I need to gamble and go downstairs to play blackjack. Downstairs I meet a nice girl from Cali and she keeps me company for a hour or so. At about 8-9 am I end up leaving the Cosmo to go back to Bally's... I show up and I find a note on my hotel room door, saying "F*ck you, I'll find you".... Confused, I laugh, walk inside and go to sleep. I talk to my buddy the next morning and he said he went on craigslist and sent a girl to my room. I guess she never found me and was mad, hahahaa...
Today-
I wake up at 11am, checkout, have a flight at 6pm, but decide to head to the airport early to see if I could get on a early flight. I ended up getting on a flight at 2:30 and made it home, safe and sound, a little less money, random bruising all over the body, funny stories, escort who wants to "find me" and hurt me, and a big sense of accomplishment for my first trip to Vegas. I understand that you can do a LOT of different kinds of Vegas. For my first Vegas trip I chose getting hammered... Maybe my next one will be different, I guess only time will tell...Vegas was everything I hoped for and I'm pissed that I waited to age 28 to experience it for the first time... Already thinking about my next trip... I'm thinking of doing Vegas once a quarter, but who knows...
