  • First trip report in years.

Hey guys, I haven't done a trip report in years. I'm stuck in a hotel near the airport in SFO tonight so I figured what the heck. My last trip wasn't the best or the worst. I been to Vegas maybe 25 times times now. I would say this past week ranked somewhere near the middle of the pack. Probably upper-middle.

I will break the posts up into days for ease of reading.

    ----------
Friday, April 21st. I arrived around 5pm with two co-workers. I like both of them a lot and don't mind spending time with them in the off hours though neither are party people thus I'm always solo on my evening adventures. We were staying at Aria. When we got to the hotel there was a huge line at check-in so it was nice to be able to put the mlife status to use to skip the line. I booked all our rooms under my name so I could collect the mlife points for each room. It is an easy way to run up your status fast.

Got into my room around 6pm. Dropped my stuff and booked it over to the CVS just down the street. Wanted to get a bottle for my room, some mixes, snacks and the most important ingredients to a successful work/play trip; Pedialyte and water.

We booked a 7pm dinner at Javier's so I rushed back for a quick shower and met my co-workers for dinner. It was excellent. I highly recommend the crab enchiladas.

Played a little poker after dinner and txt'd back and forth with adn232. I was planning on joining his table for Calvin at Omnia. After about a half hour of poker I was up $75 plus two free drinks so I thought it was a good time to get up and get ready for Omnia. I decided to wear a suit because I would rather be over dressed than under when joining a group of guys I mostly didn't know. (I did know a few in the group from previous trips.) Plus this particular suit served me very well last time I had a table at Omnia so why not let it ride (*probably should have done a trip report for that trip).

I got to Casears around 10ish and meet up with the guys. All of them seemed chill so I knew it should be a good night. A few of the guys in the group were the guys that bailed on me after a failed attempt to setup a table at Hyde for the night. No hard feeling, they made the right choice to go with Omnia. We headed in around 10:30. The table was pretty nice, right behind the DJ booth in a place that was easy to get in and out of. All of the guys were easy to get along with. Everyone seemed fun with no douchebags so the evening was off to a good start. I had had a few drinks before coming in so I paced myself early. Plus, pro tip: it is always good form when joining a new group to not just pound drinks or you won't be invited back the next time. I made sure I talked at least a bit with everyone at our table to make sure everyone was having a good time and felt included since I knew a few of them were not nightlife vets.

Sometime not too long (never trust me on time though, it all blends after I have been drinking) after a big group of ex-softball teammates on a bachelorette/reunion trip got into the mix. From what I gathered some of them hadn't seen each other in person in over 5 years. More than a few of them were rather good looking. I really hit it off with a girl from Seattle. We talked for a long while and danced a little on the rail. Then made the mistake of making a trip to the bathroom and when I returned they were all gone. Oh well, the night was just getting started. Another giant bottle came and our group size started shrinking. Probably should have stopped drinking at this point but someone had to drink that big bottle. Time passed. Women came and went. The entire table next to us left. I remember sitting down on the upper part of seats and a woman in the table behind us start dancing up against my back while standing on the couch. She came over and talked with me for a bit. We went out to the dance floor for a while. Had a really good time with her until her friends came to collect her because they were going. Thanks ladies...

Back to the table where there were not many people left. A few girls and a couple of the guys. I was sobering up a bit. Getting tired but not feeling impaired or cloudy anymore. I sat down and took a bunch of waters from the table that had left since we were out. Started talking with a couple of the girls. Looked up and all the remaining guys had seemingly left. I think the music slowed or stopped. One of the girls and I had some good back and forth sarcastic banter. She was young but intelligent. Able to hold her own and send it right back at me in a witty way that was very attractive. At one point I remember kissing her. Talked some more. Repeat sequence a few times. It was getting a little intense so I slowly put my hand down to gently touch her leg to get an idea of if this was going anywhere. She moved her leg away slightly. I know how to read signs so I knew it wasn't happening. She was with a bunch of friends...young women rarely break rank. Still continued with it a bit. The lights came on. I stood up and kissed the back of her hand and said goodnight. She looked amusingly shocked and shot back with a "aren't you even going to try to get me back to your room. I mean, it's not going to happen but I at least wanted you to try." I replied by saying "I've here before. I knew it wasn't going to happen ten minutes ago. Besides I'm too old for you." She laughed and smiled. The look in her eyes almost made me turn back and try harder. I'm sure I could have gotten her number. Instead I turned and walked away feeling like a won that even though I was going back to my room alone. Sometimes life's little victories make it worth living.

Okay Saturday. I am in town to work so I'm always going to skip the entire day and fast forward to the evenings. I started the night off meetings my two co-workers at the pizza place at Aria. Its one of my favorite somewhat inexpensive places on this end of the strip. Their sandwiches and pizzas are great and I also like their wings. The side benefit is having leftovers when I stumble back into my room. The hostess who seated us noticed my Atmosphere t-shirt so we talked favorite songs/albums while I waited for our 3rd to arrive. Always appreciate a sexy woman than knows her indie rap.

After dinner I weighed my opinions and decided I was finally going to check out Jewel. I haven't ever been. There was a deal on the myvegas app for free admin and a free drink for a reasonable amount of chips so I booked the reward. It was easy to redeem. Just went the mlife desk and they added the reward to my card. The guy told me I just had to get there by 11:30. It was only 8 so decided I would get ready first and then come down to gamble for a while. Decided on some poker and free drinks. It was a great table. I was tempted to just keep playing when 11:30 rolled around as I was up a few hundred and felt like I could really clean up at the table if I stuck around. But I decided to get up happy to be up drinking money for the night and head to Jewel. There was a special line for mlife card holders. Unfortunately I got there just as one of those club crawls was arriving. They were using the same line so I got stuck in a long line with them. The lead lady kept coming up to me and making sure I had my ID out and that I knew where and when to meet them for the next stop. I just agreed rather than explaining I wasn't with their group. Plus her breasts were on full display for tips so it passed the time while I waited. I even considered tipping her even though I wasn't in her group. She was doing a good job.

Regardless of the line I got in pretty quickly. After showing my mlife card they didn't even send me through security which I thought odd, they just pointed me in. As soon as I got inside I got a little confused because the layout had changed from what this club was previously. I was up stairs somehow to start. Headed to the bar for my free drink. It was close to midnight now and the place wasn't very full. Barely a fourth of the tables were occupied. Went out on the dancefloor to have a look around. There was a decent mix of women out there. I got immediately pulled into a large bachelorette party full of hammered cougars. It was a fun little moment. They were all in their 40s but a few of them were in really tight shape. They were all wearing small, tight dresses. I like older women. I danced with them for a bit. They were a really fun bunch even though most of them were married. I decided I have enough after a bit though. It was really hot and much too early in the evening to get stuck on the dance floor.

I went to get a 2nd drink and use the rest room. The tables were filling up a bit and that pretty much sucked all the women out of the GA. By 1am it was mostly guys. Jewel was fine but I likely won't be back if I don't have a table. Decided to head out and find something else to do. I walked over to Hyde since they alway let me skip the line with no cover if I just show them my mlife card and tell them "The lady at the mlife deck said to show this to you and you'd let me in for free" *smile* They usually look confused, talk to woman with the clipboard/ipad and someone walks me in. This also works for gold and above at Hak, 1Oak and occasionally Bank if anyone wants go general admin at any of those places.

Once inside, the night's weather was amazing. The breeze off the open patio was too good. Unfortunately that is about all this place had going for it. I was way too full. I couldn't even get out on the dance floor if I wanted to. I took a lap or two around the outside and decided not to waste any more time here.

Decided just to walk back to Aria again disappointed I wasted time going over there. But like I said, the weather was great and I really like walking around Vegas looking for things to do. You see so many interesting things wondering around after midnight. When I got back to Aria I decided to check on Alibi lounge. There was a good size crowd of attractive, middle-age people. I nav'd my way up to the bar to order a Manhattan. I like meeting new people but most of the people there looked like they were in groups. I started to think it might be a little tough to make friends. So I just went my fallback of just saying something controversial out loud to see if anyone reacts wanting to engage. If they do and look interesting I can easily feel out what side of the issue they are on and adjust accordingly. Decide I want to agree or disagree with them. It is a very powerful tool. There was a TV on over the bar with a shot of Trump walking and news about his upcoming tax plan details. I say out loud, "suave! goddamn Trump is one suave fuck" Secreting hoping someone would get the Dennis Hopper reference because that would be much more fun. Some woman behind me at the bar punches me in the shoulder and says "don't you love this fucker?!" The only answer to that is "hell yes" as I take a slip of my Manhattan which just half spilled from the impact of her fist on my shoulder. I was quickly invited in to their circle of friends. Four women, two guys all dressed well and having a great time. Seemed like a good place to be. We talked of our love of Trump, how he is an acquired taste that you either seem to love or hate, how great a simplified tax plan would be... as well as drunks can anyway. They were all really funny. They were from Philly. We talked about football, Atlantic city casinos, itchy junk, Wes Anderson movies. I liked them. About this time it was 3pm and I needed to work early so I decided to call it a night. I exchanged numbers with a few of the group. We are going to meet up in AC at the borgata later this summer.

All in all a decent, low key night.
