Hey guys, I haven't done a trip report in years. I'm stuck in a hotel near the airport in SFO tonight so I figured what the heck. My last trip wasn't the best or the worst. I been to Vegas maybe 25 times times now. I would say this past week ranked somewhere near the middle of the pack. Probably upper-middle.
I will break the posts up into days for ease of reading.

Friday, April 21st. I arrived around 5pm with two co-workers. I like both of them a lot and don't mind spending time with them in the off hours though neither are party people thus I'm always solo on my evening adventures. We were staying at Aria. When we got to the hotel there was a huge line at check-in so it was nice to be able to put the mlife status to use to skip the line. I booked all our rooms under my name so I could collect the mlife points for each room. It is an easy way to run up your status fast.
Got into my room around 6pm. Dropped my stuff and booked it over to the CVS just down the street. Wanted to get a bottle for my room, some mixes, snacks and the most important ingredients to a successful work/play trip; Pedialyte and water.
We booked a 7pm dinner at Javier's so I rushed back for a quick shower and met my co-workers for dinner. It was excellent. I highly recommend the crab enchiladas.
Played a little poker after dinner and txt'd back and forth with adn232. I was planning on joining his table for Calvin at Omnia. After about a half hour of poker I was up $75 plus two free drinks so I thought it was a good time to get up and get ready for Omnia. I decided to wear a suit because I would rather be over dressed than under when joining a group of guys I mostly didn't know. (I did know a few in the group from previous trips.) Plus this particular suit served me very well last time I had a table at Omnia so why not let it ride (*probably should have done a trip report for that trip).
I got to Casears around 10ish and meet up with the guys. All of them seemed chill so I knew it should be a good night. A few of the guys in the group were the guys that bailed on me after a failed attempt to setup a table at Hyde for the night. No hard feeling, they made the right choice to go with Omnia. We headed in around 10:30. The table was pretty nice, right behind the DJ booth in a place that was easy to get in and out of. All of the guys were easy to get along with. Everyone seemed fun with no douchebags so the evening was off to a good start. I had had a few drinks before coming in so I paced myself early. Plus, pro tip: it is always good form when joining a new group to not just pound drinks or you won't be invited back the next time. I made sure I talked at least a bit with everyone at our table to make sure everyone was having a good time and felt included since I knew a few of them were not nightlife vets.
Sometime not too long (never trust me on time though, it all blends after I have been drinking) after a big group of ex-softball teammates on a bachelorette/reunion trip got into the mix. From what I gathered some of them hadn't seen each other in person in over 5 years. More than a few of them were rather good looking. I really hit it off with a girl from Seattle. We talked for a long while and danced a little on the rail. Then made the mistake of making a trip to the bathroom and when I returned they were all gone. Oh well, the night was just getting started. Another giant bottle came and our group size started shrinking. Probably should have stopped drinking at this point but someone had to drink that big bottle. Time passed. Women came and went. The entire table next to us left. I remember sitting down on the upper part of seats and a woman in the table behind us start dancing up against my back while standing on the couch. She came over and talked with me for a bit. We went out to the dance floor for a while. Had a really good time with her until her friends came to collect her because they were going. Thanks ladies...
Back to the table where there were not many people left. A few girls and a couple of the guys. I was sobering up a bit. Getting tired but not feeling impaired or cloudy anymore. I sat down and took a bunch of waters from the table that had left since we were out. Started talking with a couple of the girls. Looked up and all the remaining guys had seemingly left. I think the music slowed or stopped. One of the girls and I had some good back and forth sarcastic banter. She was young but intelligent. Able to hold her own and send it right back at me in a witty way that was very attractive. At one point I remember kissing her. Talked some more. Repeat sequence a few times. It was getting a little intense so I slowly put my hand down to gently touch her leg to get an idea of if this was going anywhere. She moved her leg away slightly. I know how to read signs so I knew it wasn't happening. She was with a bunch of friends...young women rarely break rank. Still continued with it a bit. The lights came on. I stood up and kissed the back of her hand and said goodnight. She looked amusingly shocked and shot back with a "aren't you even going to try to get me back to your room. I mean, it's not going to happen but I at least wanted you to try." I replied by saying "I've here before. I knew it wasn't going to happen ten minutes ago. Besides I'm too old for you." She laughed and smiled. The look in her eyes almost made me turn back and try harder. I'm sure I could have gotten her number. Instead I turned and walked away feeling like a won that even though I was going back to my room alone. Sometimes life's little victories make it worth living.
