Pretrip:
We start out by making a large batch of Apple Pie (apple juice, apple cider, sugar, cinnamon, Everclear, etc) to bring with us. Packed two suitcases full (8 liters). Figured that this would last us for pregaming. Night before our 6AM flight we went out drinking at the local bar "just for one drink". One drink turned into one bottle. I think we were still drunk when we boarded the plane 4 hours later.
Day 1: We take off and land with no issues and go to get the rental car. They tell us that the 'midsized' we booked means either an Impala, or a Ford Crown Vic. We tell them to piss off and bring us something like a charger or a new Taurus. Next thing you know we are rolling out of the parking garage in a Taurus SEL with paddle shift. First things first, we turn off the traction control =). We are heading towards the strip when my ass starts to ring... turns out one of the employees at Dollar had lost his cell phone under the seat. Being firm believers in Karma we head back to the rental center to get the guy his phone back. At this point it's only noon, so we decide to grab food before checking in. We hit Which Wich and ate. It was ok, nothing spectacular though. We then proceed to the Rio where we had comped rooms for the week. I slide the girl at check in a $100 sandwich and ask if we can get upgraded to a 1600 sq foot Masquerade Suite. She runs over, talks to one of the managers, and comes back saying 'no problem guys!'. We are jazzed about it, until the senior manager comes over and says that because we are there 5 days and comped that they can't do it. Oh well. We get into our room and crack open some pie. Drank down a bottle and a half and then ate at the Carnival buffet. It was ok, nothing special. Morgs and I head back to the room to get changed for the Mau5 show. We then head to the Wynn to meet the rest of the group at Parasol Up. Nice bar, first drink was passable, so I tip the bartender a $20. Next thing you know we have 2 huge bowls of nuts in front of us, and the rest of the drinks are good and strong. Met the group (Darryll, Warren, Juan, Forrest, Aaron, Forrests G/F (sorry, I'm terrible with names!), and Ricky). We head to XS and thanks to Darryll we are the first people in the club. Good table location, right by the stage. Our server was excellent, and so we started pounding them down right away. It was a killer time, we all got pretty hammered. Folks were falling in the bushes, and we all were having a great time. Everyone was in costume except Morgs and I. Darryll gave Morgs a fistful of business cards, and *poof* Morgs costume was now 'Darryll Dipietro'. He wandered about drunkenly telling girls his name was Darryll. Funny stuff. I decided that my costume was a fat old white guy. It was a perfect costume for that! Many drinks were had, and lots of shots. Every 10 minutes shots appeared and we all would chant AOD! at the top of our lungs. It was geting late, so we rolled out. Taxi line was ridiculous, so we just grabbed a private car back to the Rio. got in around 4 and crashed for a few hours.
Day 2:
We were up and ready to roll at 8AM, running on 4 hours sleep after deadmau5. Slammed a few drinks in the room and staggered down for the breakfast buffet. It was pretty bad. I really can't recall what we did all day. If I remember I'll edit this post. lol. We had bottles with Darryll at Cathouse at 10, so we got ready and rolled over to the Luxor. Darryll was off, but Ritchie at Cathouse took EXCELLENT care of us! Didn't get the AOD table as that section was closed, but we still got a nice table and quickly killed off 3 bottles. Right at the end of the bottles Craig (ipromotelv) shows up, and he, morgs and I headed to Sapphire while the other two of our group went back to the hotel to crash. We spent a couple hours at Sapphire with Craig and a few of the girls he knows there and had a really quality time. I cannot recommend Craig enough. Super standup guy, and takes what he does very seriously! We left Sapphire with smiles and took a cab. The cab driver was playing Slovokian talk radio. I tipped him an extra $10 and asked him to change the radio for Craigs remaining ride home. Craig said the guy switched to Russian Opera. Oh well, we tried! Staggered into the room and crashed at around 4.
Day 3:
Daytime is just a big fuzzy hole in my memory. Really, I have no concious recollection of this day. It's all blank until night-time. EDIT: Oh yeah... we went to SEMA. LOL
We drank all night, and then I had an old friend of mine come to the room where we drank a couple more bottles of pie. She went home and we crashed early, like 2ish.
Day 4:
This day we spent pretty much the better part of the morning drinking at Rum Runners. This is a Wisconsin Badger/Packer bar on Tropicana (?) and its awesome. The owner is from the same part of the state that we are, and everytime we are there he insists on pouring us many many shots on the house. That afternoon we headed out to Hoover Dam. Walked on the new walkway on the bridge, and just kind of drove around. We started getting burnt out on pie so we swung by Walmart on the way back and grabbed some goose and redbull. Killed the bottle that night and ended up drinking pie anyway until about 6. I got invited to a party at Rain, but by the time I got ready my friend said she was leaving and so she picked me up and the two of us went to the Crown and Anchor to drink some pints. I frequently travel to the UK and love British beers. We played darts and I won bottle service the next time I am in town from her (she worked for Light Group for a number of years and still has contacts for comps). I got back at midnight and we drank until about 3 in the room.
Day 5:
We checked out and went to Stratosphere so Morgs could do the skyjump. Unfortunately it was booked, so we just bummed around there, then hit Fashion Mall and Jack in the Box. Got to the airport only to find out after we cleared security that our flight was delyaed 2 hours. thats what we get for flying SouthWorst I guess. Got home at 4AM and crashed.
We had a great time with the AOD folks, and were very impressed with everyone! HUGE shoutout to Darryll, Ritchie, and Craig. Looking forward to a work trip in March, and then MAyOD!
