  • Best place for seafood ?

I will be in Vegas in a few weeks & my younger brother is coming with me. This will be his first time in Las Vegas & he loves seafood. I want to take him to a nice dinner his first night out. Flounder, Halibut, Oysters, Clams, Red Snapper & Chilean sea bass are a few of his favorites. Hope that info helps with any recommendations.

Thanks in advance for any help

Estatorio Milos in the Cosmopolitan is spectacular. Lots of great seafood flown in from all over the world. My new fav. seafood place in Vegas!

Dinner prices are a little steep, but I guess that's to be expected when they actually fly most of their fish from over every day from the Mediterranean. I usually end up paying about 100 pp, but its totally worth it. Service is good and not rushed, which is ideal for a meal like this.

Appetizers are awesome (around 20-30) but they are large. (menu says serves 2-4, but more like 2 IMO).

Main courses are mostly whatever fish they have available that day and sell them to you whole, cooked the way you want, by the pound. Most are between 40-60 per pound, so it adds up fast, but again, you're splitting these large fish. When I go, I order extra apps since they are almost like small mains, and then have one whole fish to split. They also have good greek-style lamb chops.

Lunch is a different story. They have a $20 dollar special that's 3 courses. For 10 bucks you can upgrade your app to the grilled octopus, which is one of my fav things on the menu. Best deal in town.

I would go with Bartolotta in the Wynn. It is a bit pricy, $15-$22 per 100 grams for fresh fish. I usually spend about 250/pp but if you want the best this is it.

i like Bartolotta too. As far as the fresh fish, they both do it similarly- sell it to you by weight and cook it as you wish. Milos is a little bit cheaper though, even though quality of the fish is the same. what puts Milos over the edge for me are the other dishes. cuttlefish with ink, giant prawns with metaxa, grilled eel with dill, and these addictive little fried eggplant things all still sit in my mind and taunt me when i'm hungry.

at bartolotta, i do like the seafood pastas, the red mullets and this amazing warm salad of baby artichokes and porcini mushrooms with pecorino. one of the best dishes in vegas.

in the end, it all depends on what you're looking for i guess: Milos=Greek, Bartolotta=Italian. can't go wrong either way.

oh, i gotta give the edge to Milos on the wine list too. they have nice greek white wines that go great with the fish that you can't find anywhere else.

Ive eaten at both Milos and Bartolatta multiple times , and you cant go wrong with either one ...2 solid recomendations there .... the above posts did a great job of breaking it down.

I'd like to add that both Bartolatta and Milos have a great salted baked fish thing...had it both places.... i would highly recommend it... its baked in a salt crust....so juicy !

I also like RM Seafood ... not on the same level as the other two ,but very good.

I will be going to Milos next week and having the Bue Lobster

good deal to watch out for:

$1 dollar oyster happy hour at JP Clarke's located in the Forum Shops (in the newer end of the mall, near Joes Stone Crab and Voges Chocolates). Classic american restaurant with a cool 1940s vibe and great bartenders. it goes from something like 3-6 i think. oysters are great quality and delicious, a real bargain for a dollar each! champagne is served in the old-style tulip glass.

Lakeside at the Wynn also has 1.50 oyster happy hour, but i haven't tried it. any reports?

Definitely RM Seafood. Went there last summer and it was phenomenal. Relatively reasonably-priced for such a high caliber restaurant if I remember correctly.

The food is very good, especially the seafood towers which are incredible. However, the last time I was there, the service was unbelievably slow. This was downstairs and we were there for four hours for 10 people with the restaurant practically empty. Really inexcusable service.
