getting there on the Wednesday....is it not better to ask for an upgrade and say "i'll take care of u", rather than just handing over cash knowing theres a good chance that a) u wont get an upgrade and b) u wont get ur money back....?

You can do that, but I think it's better to put the money between your license and your credit card and ask for the upgrade you're looking for. It's rare that the person checking you in will keep the money and give you nothing in return, especially if you're offering $50+.

My friends (3 hot girls) did the sandwich trick at Caesar's on Friday and got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. They tipped a younger guy $20 and just asked if there was any upgrades available. I am going to try it at Venetian when I go in July.

I've been doing some more research now that my Vegas trip is almost a week away, and came across this sandwich trick recently. Sounds amazing. I haven't seen much about the Palms though. Anyone have some experience with them?

If I can wrangle an upgrade from my two superior rooms to a suite of some type, unless they give me one of the high class suites, it takes me out of the Fantasy Tower, which most reviews have said is far nicer and newer than the Palms Tower, and farther away from Moon/Ghostbar, which I intend to frequent.

Thoughts?

My boyfriend did it @ the Cosmo last month, we got upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom with a premium view for $20. Not so shabby!

I stayed in the PH for ten nights with two friends tried $50 and it worked a treat, got offered the choice between a resort suite that was smoking or a strip view version of the room we'd booked that was none smoking, went for the strip view and it was bang on the bellagio fountains well worth the $50 !!!

I'm sure she can't tell you now but when she does, please let us know what she said. I'm planning on doing this when I go in late June but I'm gonna have to lay some extra cash down for the upgrade I want..

Has anyone tried the $20 trick for attempting to wave the resort fee, instead of a room upgrade? I've already prepaid for my room at Aria, but if I could get out of that resort fee, I'd be thrilled. I'd be willing to offer $50 if it would work.

I've heard of them doing that (not necessarily at Aria though). You'd have to be direct about what you want.

Went to the Palms 2 weeks ago for the Pacquiao fight weekend and I had 2 regular rooms booked from wednesday to sunday.

Sandwiched 40 bucks, got both rooms upgraded to the slightly bigger deluxe (or superior, don't remember) rooms in the Fantasy Tower.

I then asked if they had any suites available, even if it was just one bed (I was rooming with my 2 brothers so no biggie). Turns out, they offered me a Penthouse Suite for an extra 100 bucks a night, which we took. We only needed an extra roll-over bed. That suite turned out to be in the 51st floor on the Palms Tower, like 3 floors below the Ghostbar. We could even see the opening from where you can see all the way to the ground.

Now, my original reservation was with a promotion, so even including the extra 100 for the suite, it turned out to be like 150 a night wednesday and thursday and 200 the weekend. Naturally, I checked on the Palms website and the Penthouse suite goes for 1500 on a saturday, so I consider that a big upgrade.

Of course, I can't say if I got the suite at that price because of the tip, or just by asking, or because I do gamble a lot in that casino ... but let me tell you, it was extremely worth it. Amazing suite.
