  • Advice on a hotel to stay on an upcoming trip July 11-13

    Greetings everyone,

I've been to Vegas numerous times and usually stay at the Cosmo. However, I'm going for a shorter trip (2 nights) and am going to be staying solo. Therefore, I just want to try a cheaper hotel at the moment. I'll be meeting some friends out there when I touch down though. I would like to stay in the center of the strip where there is some action and is easy to get around.

    I was thinking of...

    Vdara
Aria (sold out on the dates)
    Planet Hollywood
    Palazzo
    Paris
    Monte Carlo

Please let me know your advice for any of these hotels or any recommendations.

    Thanks in advance!

Palazzo is probably the best out of those, but won't necessarily be the cheapest. PH gets a fair bit of love on here for having a younger crowd and usually has decent prices.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

I wouldn't stay at Paris or PH if you're booking a standard room, they are overpriced for what they are.

If you really want bang for buck, try the Flamingo...perfect center location and the GO rooms aren't bad at all for the price. I got a Total Rewards comp last year and said why not..Plus they have a dope pool.
      Next trip: ???

I would like a hotel with a younger crowd and a good standard room that isn't too worn down.

What else would you recommend that is easy to get to from the center of the strip?

How's the rooms in PH? I know that's a centralized location and wouldn't mind it as long as the rooms are ok.

          Have you been to Vdara?

Has anyone used priceline to try to book a five star room?

Try booking your hotel through JackColton.com as the room prices look ridiculously cheap for damn near any hotel!

I've done this to get a bunch of rooms at Venetian for a bachelor party, and it worked out great. That was almost two years ago, but Plague said in another thread that he did it recently and got Palazzo. It's my understanding that if you do 5 stars north strip with a casino you are almost certainly going to get Venetian/Palazzo, and if you don't, good for you because you just landed Wynn/Encore.

I think if you go 5 stars strip south with gambling you are likely to get Aria, and without a casino Vdara.

Personally I would recommend those places over a standard room at PH, but I've also stayed at PH and it was fine. The location of PH is great, it's just not quite as nice overall (and maybe I'm in the minority but I hate the casino floor). I'm intrigued by donniejay's recommendation of the Flamingo; it does have an amazing location so if the rooms are decent, that could be a good spot.

Also on rare occasions if you see an option for five star strip south (again rare) but recently i was looking to see what the options were for the strip (i own a place off strip for when i'm in town long term) they sometimes have The Cosmo as an option. The trick on that one it seems is to look to see if it offers bed options. If it does and you click on it, it will show you prices for Sudio, One Bedroom, Terrace etc. prices aren't that crazy cheaper but they ARE cheaper than most listed prices out there.

If you use priceline or hotwire, check out www.betterbidding.com People post what hotel they received and the amenities that were listed and match it against what's available on the site. I use it mostly for Orlando as I'm in Tampa, but in most cases you can narrow down which hotel you'll get to one or two choices. It's almost always the one I thought.

Just to be sure, is this through express deals? I can't find the option to select casino in the amenities in the name your price section.

You can do it on Hotwire also. It's a little easier there since they list it as "All Suites Hotel"

I just went along with Cromwell since it's right in the middle of the strip.

Has anyone stayed there and how's it like?

I know it's small, but it Looks like a nice boutique hotel with nice rooms.

                          Thanks!

Priceline's Express Deals spread with the Name Your Own Price has narrowed significantly so unless you have (a) a lot of rooms and/or (b) a lot of nights, I would just go with Express Deals for the safety of seeing what you are getting and being able to know the Resort Fees.

I have won Palazzo for < $100 on a Thu night and TI for < $60 during the summer. Weekends are more expensive but there are deals out there, especially if you book in advance. If you can do LNF Guarantee at Cosmo, then even better.
