  • Where To Stay?

Going with a smaller group for my next trip during the end of August. Looking for an affordable standard room for myself at a nice hotel on the strip or right off it (Vdara, Elara) that is sandwich-friendly. Gambling is not a priority. Plan on going to Omnia/XS/EBC/Drai's, but distance to these venues is not a factor since I will want to bounce around the strip during non-club days. Price is the biggest factor, but I'm always willing to spend more for a better experience.

Hotels I've been considering; Aria, Vdara, MGM, Mirage. Cosmo is out due to price.

I really like the mirage. One of my favorite/most affordable hotels on the strip/

Lately i have been using hotwire/priceline. If you choose the strip north area and get the 5 star with casino, it 99% the venitian/Palazzo ( which is an AMAZING hotel). usually runs around 90-110 a night.

Agree with jmiller. Priceline/hotwire 5 star with casino in Strip North Area is my standard play when I'm getting a room on a budget. Rooms at Venetian/Palazzo are huge, the resort has tons of restaurants, plus I like the pool deck there for any days where you aren't going to a day club. Have been meaning to check out Aria/Vdara, though.

Of the four you specifically mentioned, the Aria/Vdara are the nicer actual HOTELS. you might find the crowd that populate them a little tamer then what your used to... Mirage is a pretty god hotel quality wise and certainly budget friendly. MGM would be the last of the four IMO. As far as sandwich friendly all are probably doable as long as the weekend/days aren't too busy. Agree with the above that if you can Priceline or hotwire it (never really used either myself though it does seem like a good deal) getting the Palazzo/Venetian at a decent price is a GREAT option as there would be no reason to sandwich unless your trying to get resort fees waived, or a HUGE suite (since all the rooms are suites to begin with). If either is the case start off with a 50 and ask for both a bigger room and resort fees waived. It's worked for me in the past and you come out way on top math wise anyway.

Awesome feedback, thank you gentleman! I was on priceline last night so I know exactly what you're talking about but was too shook to buy without knowing which hotel lol. Now that my mind is at ease I may have to go that route. Any suggestions on the price I should enter for name your own price? It says the median for a 5 star hotel in that area is $107.

i usually just go the express deal route. I have been a little too confused about the name your own price. but i do know that the 5 star hotels under priceline are Venetian/Palazzo, Trump, or Wynn. ( if it says casino in the ammentities, its not trump) and the wynn is very very rare. Ive gotten Palazzo every time.
