I had some luck last year, i think it depends on the clerk, but didn't really get much out of it, couldn't do the room upgrade but got a $50 credit ("for the line being too long") a free fridge (i think this runs $50 a day at aria), floor and view upgrade, and extra room keys. I think i gave $60

in all fairness the lady that checked me in told me she didn't usually work the check in counter... and she was Canadian, so we had something in common
