Guys lets keep in mind it's his first trip to Vegas (else he wouldnt be asking this i guess) and he is from Europe and not a frequent visitor. With all due respect, I would bust 100 bucks more and get something as Planet Hollywood or Mirage which is a bit more classy/comfortable than Linq/Flamingo (although the new GO rooms are decent).

I by no means stated that the Flamingo is a GREAT property, but it certainly fits his criteria of being economical and having a decent pool scene. Yes of course Planet Hollywood and the Mirage are slightly better room wise ( though Planet Hollywood's rooms... meh) but neither have a raging pool scene to speak of (though there is BARE at the Mirage and his being from Europe he might appreciate the European style). Ultimately with a little research i'm sure he'll figure out which places better suit his needs."If you have to ask you probably can't do it"

Yes thats about right. PH rooms are "mweh" and the vibe was "mweh" but maybe it's just my own taste as well. But glad you had the same feeling about that one and it was not only my opinion. My next trip is for the first time with my gf, so with my experience i booked some other rooms compared to when i would get there with other friends. A decent room/view could be a great atmoshphere for your total vegas experience, but with a budget like 1K $ for a week you should be able to get something better than TI/Flamingo imo (don't get me wrong, Flaming Go rooms are great, although the Flamingo is getting an old vibe).Previous Trips

Thanks guys. Kind of back where I started with suggestions! Thanks for all the suggestions though.
I have a decent budget for spending/gambling but the flights are a killer ($1,100).
I have looked on expedia/etc but its cheaper booking flight separate, Flights from Glasgow to LV are only 1 a week and its only one airline.
MGM is a good price, also swapping seems to be a cheaper option to check out different areas of the strip.
Think PH is out, rooms look like a headache to look at!

Might want to check out if British Airways is an option (Glasgow -> London - Vegas) or Glasgow - AMS (if it's cheap) and then buy a ticket AMS-Vegas via London (also cheaper than London - Vegas directly). I'm flying Amsterdam - London - Vegas. It's much easier than a stopover (with all custom controls/immigration) in the USA.
I've bought my ticket for 630 euro's in total (450 GB pounds/ 665 dollars)Previous Trips

Great plan, UKSteve. You're going to have a blast.
One thing I always mention to folks looking for a hotel deal in LV is to take a look at the "blind" hotel sites like Priceline Express Deals (or Negotiator) or Hotwire. If you see a 5 star hotel on the North Strip that has gambling, you can be sure that it's Venetian/Palazzo (although maybe one day it will be WynnCore, even better!); if it doesn't have gambling, it's Trump. I've done this a couple of times to get really cheap rates at Venetian, and I think those rooms are pretty nice for the money.
To set yourself up for future stays, get an Identity account at Cosmo and an mLife card at MGM (though note that Cosmo doesn't reward table play anymore, if that matters to you). Run them everywhere you spend money in their resorts (and for mLife, the other affiliated resorts) and next time maybe you'll have some discount hotel offers directly from them.Last 4 and Next 1:
