What is going on at the first weeks of May 2015?

Hi all,

I've booked my flight for the 12th of May until the 19th of May. I wanted to book a hotel, but I saw that most are more expensive during the first weeks of May. Why is that?

I always book through a website that has coupons to book directly at the hotel. It's cheaper then the well known booking agencies, but would you advice to wait with the booking (looking at the current prices)? Or book before they get even higher?

In my opinion it should get cheaper when they have specials right?

National Hardware show brings in 30k in visitors Rock in Rio (5/8,5/9 and 5/15 and 5/16) projecting 300k and depending, there may be a Mayweather fight.

I go every year for the National Hardware show. First week of May. Usually first night swim of XS is insane and now the Rock in Rio the weekend after will mark up everything exponentially.

I'm actually staying for 7 nights, so I'm glad I currently booked Excalibur for a decent price. For me it's good enough Now prices already increased.

I've noticed a large price increase for accommodations as I've been in Vegas in early May the past few years. There must be more of a demand than past years. I know a ton of Canadians migrate to vegas for our may long weekend which is the 15-18th this May.
I've always gotten the best rates by calling the hotel i wished to stay at directly and asking what the absolute best rate was they could provide me. I then asked for an additional 10% off for CAA/Triple A. Once you arrive ask to get your resort fees waived or reduced. Some times they will accommodate especially if you have arrived later in the day past check in or are at a resort that lacks quality amenities like a pool. Good luck! I haven't booked my May vegas trip yet but am hoping to keep the streak alive May 15-19th this year.
