  • Accomadation confusion..

I'll be travelling from australia to vegas in May from the 14th - 19th and would love a few tips on where I should stay.

I'm a solo female traveller (as my name describes) and am super undecided as to where to stay. The Cosmo looks really cool but for me to pay for on my own seems pretty expensive. I don't know if it's worth paying so much for just a room but at the same time I want to go all out for this holiday.

I've got a $5K budget but I don't really want to blow half of that on accommodation alone.

Am I better off booking earlier rather then later?
And is it true there's a new festival planned for that weekend and will that effect accommodation pricing?

Thanks in advance for your help

Those are the dates for the Rock In Rio in Las Vegas. May 15-16. Depends on what you want to do with that budget. Is that including airfare? Also depends on exactly where you will be frequenting on the strip. You don't want to be partying mainly at SLS, Encore and Wynn and stay at the Mandalay Bay but since you picked the Cosmo I guess you will be around that area. I would say try Aria. Play MyVegas on Facebook from now till then and you can get two free nights which means you will only have to come out of pocket for 3.
    Palms Place - 2008
    Aria - NYE 2011
    Luxor - 2012
    Aria - July 30th - August 5th 2014
    Aria - July 30th - August 3rd 2016

My favorite drink is the next one

      $5k budget WOW
To give you somethings to think about.
      1. Rock in Rio is a two day 85,000 person each day music festival that Friday/Saturday. That is the Pop music weekend with Taylor Swift confirmed so far and more tba.
      2. Hotels check a site like www.kayak.com and look at the price map.
You can get a hotel room 5 nights in vegas those dates for $215 all in including tax or you can spend $500+ a night or more.
That's the main thing with vegas you can spend a little or a ton.
Also keep in mind how much time are you going to spend in the hotel room. If its just a place to sleep between pool parties and nightclubs the low end will be fine.
      3. Pool parties will be open and nightclubs- in terms of those as a single girl you can get free entry!

So basically plan it out you can easily spend $5000 or you can spend A LOT less.

The $5000 is excluding flights as I'll actually be in America for a month and this is just one stop. For my whole holiday I've roughly budgeted $20K overall. If I had someone coming with me we could split accommodation and it would be so much cheaper but I couldn't find anyone who wanted to spend as much as I did while over there and if we had two different budgets it would be hard if I wanted to do something and the other couldn't afford it. Plus everyone else wanted to backpack (not my thing).

I had my heart set on Cosmo but I think I would feel back for blowing like $2500-$3500 on accommodation alone.

Aria looks pretty good! And pretty well priced. I just have to wrap my head around these extras charges thing. I've never travelled somewhere that has that before.

I'll be partying the whole time so you guys are right, it's just a room. Thanks again

backpacking really isn't a thing here like it is in europe and other countries. We really don't have the train system like most countries to support that. You have a solid budget and will undoubtedly be able to get around the whole country on that budget. Have fun, be safe.

            $20,000
            that's like $700 a day

            Just plan and compare!
Trying to point out there are people who get cheap flights, cheap rooms- girls can get free entry to the parties and free drinks.
All the casinos/clubs/pools are open to everyone.
For your country trip you can even get cheap flights on www.southwest.com

This actually inspired me to hunt around a little more for a travel partner so I've emailed an old friend to see if he is interested

I'm going all out for vegas but will try to keep to more of a budget for the rest of the trip but I really don't see that happening haha.

Looks like either way I'll have an awesome time on my own or with someone!

Maybe you can start playing MyVegas now and earn enough points for 2 free nights? Then spend a little extra on a better place for the remainder of your stay.

It's worth booking a hotel now and if a better rate pops up, cancelling your existing booking, and re-booking.

If you are alone, it's not worth paying the Cosmo/Wynncore premium - you will only use the room to get ready and to sleep. Daytime/nightime you'll probably be at a pool party/nightclub. Speaking from experience (I lived solo in a hotel for quite a while) you will want to get out and mingle.

Oh, and closer to your dates you can use the Get Connected sub-forum to join up with others from here.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

They removed the Aria free night rewards from the game a while back. Most of the other ones are still there though.

Even if you sign up for a Total Rewards or M-Life card, you'll get a slight discount, so that's something to consider too! Sounds like a fun trip you got lined up though!

Thanks! I'm trying to cram so much into such a short trip but with work strictly needing me back on June 1st I couldn't extend me trip

I'll suss out those reward cards today when I've got some free time cause that sounds interesting.
I had at look at myvegas briefly but need to check out properly what the go is.

Everyone here is so helpful! This website is seriously the best thing I've ever stumbled onto.

Oh also if I make reservations I thought you have to pay then?

if you make the reservation through a 3rd party website (Kayak, Hotels.com, Hotwire, etc.), then yes, you have to pay in full at the time of booking. If you do it through the hotel itself, at the time of booking you only get charged for the first night as a deposit, then you pay for the remainder of your reservation at check-in.

Bally's, Harrah's, Mirage, Planet Hollywood all have an ideal location on the Strip and won't cost you an arm and a leg..like others have said, you'll be mainly using the room to shower and sleep. safe travels and I hope you enjoy yourself!
