  • Better Cheaper Hotel: Harrahs or Bally's?

I'm a creature of habit and so whenever I got to Vegas I tend to stay mid-strip and have stayed multiple times at the Mirage. I'm heading out again in December by myself so I'm thinking about trying to find a cheaper hotel. Since I like mid-strip I'm thinking about giving Harrah's or Bally's a try. They are both about the same price, any opinions on either of them?

It's basically a wash in my opinion. Ballys seemed bigger to me, but a lot less lively. I'd say pick the one that's closer the the area you plan on spending a majority of your time in.

North Strip (Wynncore, Venitian/Palazzo, Mirage, etc.) - Go with Harrahs
South Strip (PH, Cosmo, Aria, MGM, MB, etc.) - Go with Ballys

I stay mid-strip because I'm thinking Sunday will be Hakasan, Monday XS & Tuesday 1OAK most likely (possibly Hyde). So I'm really going both north and south. I've never stayed at MGM Grand but they have decent prices too and it might be nice to not travel the first night I'm in Vegas.

1Oak and XS are in walking distance from Harrah's (yes, XS is in walking distance from there, albeit a long one). That way the only long cab ride you'd take is down to MGM.

Mirage is typically very affordable, I am curious what the price differential is. Unless you want to try a different place this trip?

Ballys is one of my main choices when staying in Vegas, its cheap and in the middle of the strip.

Have done Harrah's 3 times and Ballys twice. Harrah's seems brighter inside to me than Ballys. It's almost a wash but we have gotten better comp offers for Harrah's. I never had any problems at either.

I don't know what the status is regarding the construction at Ballys as they are supposed to be opening the Grand Bazaar shops around Christmas. May want to inquire about that.

Mirage usually runs about $100-$150 more for 3 nights than the other two do. I've stayed at mirage and always liked it. I was just thinking of trying something a bit cheaper and different since I'm rolling solo this time.

Same to me! I don't gamble at neither. As far as location goes, I prefer Bally's but then again..Harrah's has a ton of properties around it as well.
                  Next trip: ???

this. I've stayed at Bally's on my last 2 trips to Vegas and have never had any issues there.

I've found its always nice to stay at the hotel where you will at least be going to one night ie MGM Grand. Being able to just down to the club and walk back up has its perks...

Yep - this is good advice if you can afford it. It is the main reason I have stayed at the Encore the last 2 trips.

I would go with the cheapest. Not too much of a difference between the two... certainly no clear winner.
