Best value hotel for one night stay?

All,

Going to be hitting up Vegas again with several friends for a long weekend at the end of May; we already have our rooms reserved - MGM Grand suites - but I am arriving a night earlier than everyone else, so I'll be on my own.

Any suggestions on a nicely price hotel to check into where I can lay my stuff, lay my head, and cruise around the strip for a night on the town by my lonesome?

Was considering Luxor or Monte Carlo as they are cheaply priced and seem to have a modicum of respectability (key words: "seem to"). I've never tried Hard Rock, and would consider it, but not sure how far it is off the strip.

Thoughts, suggestions?

You might check if you can get a room at motel 6 on Tropicana across from mgm for around $30 with no resort fee

look at a google map- hard rock is further off the strip

The Quad and Flamingo are both pretty cheap. With the Linq opening, I think it would be a nice are to browse around solo.

thursday may 22nd MGM room $66.25 per night

book it, slip a 20 at check in and you are moved to your weekend room. totally worth the extra $50-$60 after tip / and resort fee...

with a $28 resort fee and tax
and you want to throw another $20 on top so $122.48

motel 6 across the street is $42.50 all in
so mgm is really $60 or 80 with tip higher

I usually go to vegas thursday-sun. I book the hotel in advance for fri-sat and thurdays usually use the Hotel Tonight app just cause its usually cheap on weekdays. U can use Promo10 as a invite code and get $25 as well.
