Room keys

Has anybody ever booked a room for 2 people, but had 4 people stay in the room? Wondering if you can book a room for 2 people and ask for 4 room keys at check in for no extra charge. The room key issue is the only problem that comes to mind.

The reason I ask is that we have 6 in our group and the room split doesn't exactly work in our favor. Looking to stay at the Cosmo but some of my buddies have a limit on how much they want to spend on a hotel. Trying to keep costs as low as possible.

I've stayed in a room for "2" with, 3, 4, 5....However, I don't think they would give you more than 2 keys and would be red flag to charge you more.

I don't see an issue with there only being 2 keys among 4 guys.

When we stayed at Cosmo, we had a room booked for 2, but there were really 8 girls total. We didn't all check in together, there were only four of us there at the time. They gave us 4 keys and put 4 names on the room with no hassle or extra charge. However, I don't think that's the norm. It could've been the sandwich or all of the flirting that one of my friends did during check-in.

I also stayed at Cosmo last year for MDW. Booked two connecting rooms and asked for a total of 8 keys but also had a sandwich with the request too. She gave me 10 keys and did not have an extra charge and asked if I'd even want more rollaway beds. Throw something their way and they shouldn't have a problem accommodating your requests!

Get two keys at check in. Then later in the afternoon go get another. Then later again go get another. Yes it is sneaky and may make you feel uncomfortable. But Cosmo has a policy of $30 per person over 2 people so better to be sneaky than pay $60 extra per night.

At check-in, tip $20 and then be like "oh yeah I just realize, I might need some extra keys".

Never had any problem getting extra keys, I usually book 2 queen beds and always get 4 keys no matter what.
FYI - the hotel typically knows how many people are in a room, even if and when you try to conceal it.
I always tend to put the other's name on the room so they can get keys when they're lost and that usually happens.

Extra keys are easy to get. Just don't go too crazy, or make sure you sandwich

Most of the time they'll give you any amount of keys you like within reason say 3 or so the first time. Been plenty of times where I went down the next day and just asked for two more with no issues.

Absolutely you can get extra keys for more than the number of people booked on the reservation. Oftentimes they'll ask "how many keys?" at check-in (even if the room is booked for two people). Just smile and say "Three, cause I'm sure I'll lose at least one." Only the harshest check-in attendant will refuse to grant you a third key. If that doesn't work, see SelfMade's post above. A tip at check-in (which may also land you a room upgrade) works wonders.

If necessary, go back the following day to the front desk and say you lost one of your keys. They'll almost certainly print you a new one with little fuss. And just like that you're up to four keys.

I typically do this every year lol. Get about 5/6 guys in a room for 2. Just check in with 1 additional person(2 total) ask for a set of extra keys. Now you have 4 and just grab a an extra next time going back up to the room an then boom everyone has their own key. In my experiences, never had an issue with the hotel or additional charges or anything. This was at Elara/PHtowers
