  • Which hotel for 25-30 crowd?

So while I am older than the age group posted in the question, most of the guys on my next trip fall into this group and have requested that we stay at a hotel with a majority of people in this demographic. Previously we have stayed at Venetian, Flamingo (got it for $8/night and thats the only reason we stayed there that year), Cosmo, Palms and Mandalay Bay.

I was leaning towards Luxor, but one guy said PH and another said Hard Rock. I sort of scoffed at Hard Rock. So now I turn to my Vegas veterans for the advice.
    March 2007 - Venetian | December 2010 - Flamingo | December 2011 - Palms | November 2012 - Cosmo | November 2013 - Mandalay Bay | June 2014 - PH

I think Flamingo is the best mix of cool people and price.

I would def go with PH over Luxor, actually I would take most places before Luxor

For us it's about location and now add the age factor you're facing, PH definitely but the rooms when we stayed seemed small and dark. Not a fan of Luxor personally just on location and all the cabs we had to take instead of walking.

May want to look at MGM or Cosmo based on what I have read on here also. Aria is also very solid but never paid attention to the age factor when we went for MDW 2011.

I don't mean to hijack the tread but how is PH these days? did Como steal the young crowd?

The PH Towers becoming Elara probably did more to jack PH than Cosmo did.

Seriously? Cosmo. It is not even close. 3,000 rooms and 95% of the people there are 25-35.

While I agree regarding the young crowd at Cosmo I'd also like to point out that Wynncore has a fairly good representation in this demographic. Generally a more upscale crowd.

But I'm biased, I only stay at Wynncore these days.

Wynncore does have a good representation of this demographic BUT the Cosmo crowd is much more lively. Just walk by the craps tables at either on a weekend night and you know right away that Csomo would be a much better choice.

The new gaming area by Bond (in Cosmo) is awesome. I think it is called Bond Lounge. It has a bunch of tables but a more social atmosphere.

If a lively Casino is your preference, then sure Cosmo is probably a good choice but it doesn't make it better by default. I never gamble for example so the Casino has no appeal to me.

I value good restaurants, pools and fast access to hot spots.

                        Different strokes for different folks.

I think the poster was giving an example of how you can tell Cosmo has a more lively crowd rather than saying the casino is the only place where the crowd at Cosmo is more lively. I've stayed at Wynncore 3 times (Wynn twice, Encore once) and Cosmo four times. In my experience Wynncore has a different vibe than Cosmo. Wynncore has a more upscale vibe - both Wynncore and Cosmo are high end and not cheap. But Wynncore has the upscale vive from the restaurants to the casino to the pools. When I go to Vegas with clients we stay at Wynncore or if I were to go with one a couples trip we would stay at Wynncore. Cosmo has a more trendy vibe. When I go on guys trips we stay at Cosmo. The regular pools at Cosmo are as close to a pool party (like MDC or EBC) as there is. Loud music, tons of 25-25 year olds pool side and for the most part everyone is looking to pick up someone. The Wynncore regular pools are a little calmer because the older crowd wants peace and quiet. The Cosmo restaurants do not (in my opinion) have the same high end quality at Wynncore, but the Cosmo restaurants are geared towards a more social/party experience. If you want high end restaurants, Wynncore has great options and Venetian/Palazzo is a short walk away with more great options. Cosmo has high end restaurants for sure but Cosmo is loaded with the social restaurants. For example STK is a very nice steakhouse but it is also clearly a trendy pre-nightclub scene. I think the difference in the hotels is Wynncore targets both young and old people with money whereas Cosmo seems to me to target the younger demo with money which results in a different focus by the hotel and a different vibe. The older guys in my group want to stay at Wynncore for precisely that reason, they want more people like them, late 30s to 40 somethings in the same place in their lives (read bored housewives). The younger guys was Cosmo. Of course one caveat - as you noted, the fast access to hot spots at Wynncore is very cool - Tryst, XS and Surrender (plus EBC) in your hotel, plus Tao (and Tao Beach) and Lavo a short walk away, is a huge plus. My group chooses to take cabs to the clubs as a trade off for having what in our experience is more younger available people around us in the hotel. That's all just my experience. I am sure everyone has different experiences at different hotels.

I agree with everything I snipped out. The last part however...

Where do you meet/drink/hook up with people? Personally I'm always pull from where there's a critical mass, that is around the hot spots.
