  • March Madness

I didn't know where else to post this.

I will be out there March 20-23, and I'll be at Luxor. This is my first March Madness, and I am just planning on watching/betting at the Luxor Sports Book. I know all books will be insane; is there a certain time I should arrive in order to get seats/tables? Or do you guys recommend I watch/bet/drink somewhere else? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get lucky to find seats in sportsbooks. They claim they don't reserve seats, but I think that's bs. They reserve them for regulars. I found it best to put bets in and find other places to watch games. Bars, hotel lounges, restaurants, hell we watched some in our room just to get away from all those people. I'll give you one tip, don't think u can wait till last minute to put a bet in. Lines are long so soon as you know what u want to do put in the bet

Yeah, I figured they would all be insane. It would be cool to watch them at the book, but it's gonna be a mad-house. You suggest arriving a couple hours early?

What I suggest is you find the most important guy working behind the sportsbook the day before, give him a very generous tip and ask him to reserve x amount of seats for you and your friends. Its the only way I think to assure yourself a seat

When I was in Vegas this past weekend one of the taxi drivers told me people will actually post ads on craigslist to save a seat for you at the books for a fee.

Damn, I actually arrive the first day of the tourney, Thursday the 20th. I was planning on leaving L.A. around 4am. I guess I will need to stake a claim as soon as I arrive. Anyone else gonna be out there during that weekend?

I have gone for MM 5 times, typically always that opening weekend. My recommendations are:

-Place your bets immediately, the lines at the books are awful.

-If there is something open at the books to sit on, take it right away. There may very well not be (people camp out quite a while before the action starts). You will notice large alumnus groups gathering and good chances are a couple of the people the in the group are high rollers and the casino has them and their friends taken care of for their game and a couple others. Don't be fooled by their haggard Butler t-shirt. A lot of action that weekend.

-Your best bet for a drink and not getting hit with a minimum is to just watch at the screens at the hotel bars. Chances are you will find a seat and have food/drink option.

I typically go opening weekend like you but last year the group decided to do final 4 weekend which is nowhere near as fun action-wise. It was fun that it was 20 guys playing golf and partying balls on expense accounts haha. I think I may have watched one of the games from my bed (long days playing golf with 20 drunk guys).

Enjoy!!! One of my favorite times in Vegas.

Thanks for the info!!! Where have you watched the games? I'll be at Luxor, and I just plan on watching there. I arrive in Vegas that Thursday morning, what time do you think I should start stalking the sports book for seats?

Not sure about Luxor sportsbook during MM, but Mirage was filling up around 530 AM. Only reason I know that is because we were getting back at that time. If you guys find a spot, even if its so so, I would hang on to it for the day
