Vdara updgrade?

I've booked a couple of standard rooms at the Vdara(think they're called deluxe suites) for a trip I have coming up at the end of October for myself and 7 of my friends. However, upon doing my homework(should've done this before) it appears as there is only 1 bed per room in Vdara's standard rooms.

Can anyone provide insight or experience as to what the best way to get an upgrade on my rooms at this hotel to a more suitable room for 4 people? Does the front desk tip work or am I better off upgrading before going on the trip?

Since it may be a busy time with Halloween (and most of the rooms are booked) if the front desk tip doesn't work you may not be able to upgrade to a room with two beds. It may be safer to just upgrading before you go.
