  • When to book rooms?

When is the best time to book rooms to get the best possible rates? I'm referring to how far out from your expected arrival I guess?

Depends where youre staying, but for my March trip I will be booking next month. That is when my deals at MGM properties start coming in. If I find what I consider a deal I snatch it up right away

It all depends on if you have a players card or not. I usually start 6-7 months out.

I have never used it but I think kayak.com you can set it up to notify you regarding prices and it compares multiples for you.

Sooner the better...especially if you get a refundable rate. In my recent experience, it's rare that waiting pays off...rates always climb as the date grows closer.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I'm also headed there in March and February. Any suggestions? Feb is with family, March is for B.P.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

          2014 - March 13-16 - Bachelor Party
          2014 - June 5th - 9th (maybe) - Big 30.

I always book as soon as I know I'm going and I always get a refundable rate. Then I keep watching for a lower rate and grab it when I can. My last couple of trips I've never kept my original booking, I've always found a better rate just by checking on a regular basis.

Good to know. I really wasn't sure....I plan on staying at PH or Caesars (or MAYBE Palazzo/Cosmo if I can get a good enough deal). Where do you all suggest I look for the best rates? Forum links will work as well. Who usually offers refundable rates? Also, do they charge when you book or upon arrival?

This isnt for everyone. but if you have an Mlife card and do use it, you can book ARIA at no deposit by calling VIP services. I like staying there so its the main hotel I stay at. At any given time, I have 2-3 trips booked within 3-4months.

I have stayed at PH more often than not. I've always actually booked through the actual PH website. Sometimes with offers from my Total Rewards, other times just through other deals. Checkout SmarterVegas.com - they post lots of promo codes for all the Vegas hotels.

The only time I was charged immediately is when I used Southwest Airlines for their vacation package deals of flight+hotel all in one (haven't used the 3rd party sites). When we've booked directly to the hotel the card got hit when we arrived except for Monte Carlo they required 1 night up front due to the promo rate we got once.

Half a year before the trip at the latest. Every time I had to make a reservation later than that I would regret it, either because the hotels would be overbooked or the flight would cost a fortune. Earlier should always be cheaper (and also it saves you a lot of nerves )
For anyone who has trouble finding a suitable accommodation. I've used this site several times, it's legit.

Thats way too far in advance for hotel rooms. I book the latest 2 months in advance. Thats when the discounts usually kick in, at the beginning of every quarter.
Honestly I book 90% of my rooms within 3-4 weeks and I think I still get decent rates.

So when going in June I should be looking to book. Places like Wynncore have 25% discount if you book 60+ days before your trip

If you see a good deal then book it. Typically there are good promos 2-4 months out, keep your eye on Smartervegas.com - they have lots of promo codes.

Typically most rooms are fully refundable, so if the price goes down you can get the price adjusted.
