  • Hotels with opt out / No holds on strip???!

Hey everybody a few friends and I will be heading to Vegas July 18-21 weekend. We are mostly only using debit cards. I'm getting alot of conflicting information on if certain hotels on the strip will let you opt out of the charges or not. We are staying at the Luxor,Flamingo,Planet Hollywood. We called and Luxor said you could opt out, but everywhere i search it says the opposite. Ive seen enough reviews where people end up shocked by how much money ends up being tied up on their debit card. Does anyone know of any decent hotels on the strip that you can use a debit card without getting screwed on all of the charges? I understand there will be a resort daily fee which is fine. I'm trying to stop the 50-100 night hold on top of the resort fee. Thanks!

When I first went to vegas when I turned 21 some years ago I only had a debit card. The lady at check in (luxor btw) asked me if this was a debit card, I told her yes. She stated there would be a hold - I think it was for the same price as my hotel stay was, and they would deduct my deposit from any expenses I had. So expect to get charged the full amount of your reservation and get your deposit back at the end of the stay.

I have had stays where they didnt even ask me for card ( Mirage and MGM). Or they ask if I want a card on file to make room charges. I only brought a debit card a few trips back and explained to her I dont want a lot of funds tied up so I could gamble more money and she got it ok'd from a manager no problem. If all else fails, Luxor allows you to put cash down for incidentals and refunds the money the next morning for previous night.
