  • Hotel Question/Advice

I have been to Vegas several times and always booked thru expedia with a hotel/flight combo. I am planning on coming back in August and just tried getting rates using my players cards from Atlantic City and the rates are very good, however I dont know much about the hotels.....Any help or advice on the following hotels would be a HUGE help

    Quad
    Caesars
    Paris
    Rio
    Ballys
    Flamingo
    harras
    Planet Hollywood

    Thanks for any help!

I would say Caeser's and Paris are the top two you have. There's not much wrong with Bally's either. The Quad is new and an upgrade from Imperial Palace so don't know how great of an improvement it is, but I would keep it lower on your list, same with Rio. Rio is all suites though, but off strip, unless you don't mind cabbing it and just want to relax. The rest seem fine though

Planet Hollywood for a party atmosphere / younger crowd.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

I'm definately not an expert... but i'd say, depends on what u are looking for.. what are the most important things to you in a hotel? I've stayed at paris was nice no complaints.. a middle aged semi-boring crowd mostly.. for my fun ventures I walked to planet Hollywood and cosmo... so outta ur list.. if ur looking for a young fun crowd i'd say planet Hollywood. I'd run from quad I saw some disgusting pics of the "renovated hotel" on another forum. How valid they are idk but I wouldn't risk cleanliness. I visited carnivals court at harrahs which was a blast but didn't get to see much of the hotel... Also enjoyed margaritaville within the flamingo..ballys is a good location and connected to paris... All in all I agree with the above poster the only two i'd nix off the list are rio & quad. My reason for rio is location. Quad.. cleanliness risk

I've done Planet Hollywood, Flamingo and Caesars. Here is what I can report:

Planet Hollywood: Stayed for a bachelor party. Rooms are clean/nice (we stayed in a suite). Definitely a younger crowd looking to hangout and party. However, we did not spend much time in the room other to pre-game/sleep so can't say much more than that. Also, didn't spend much time in the casino or eat at the restaurants as its not one of the places in our regular rotation.

Flamingo: Stayed for a cheap/more low key guys weekend. Its not the prettiest place to look at (either the rooms or people) but more than serviceable. Rooms are clean, gambling is good and pool party is pretty decent for not having to pay much (its no EBC/Wet (haven't been to Marquee) but you can get 12 beers for $20 (in your own cooler!), there is a DJ, couple of contests, blackjack by the pool, free lounge chairs if you get there early enough and the pool itself is really nice).

Caesars: Stayed for a bachelor party. Sportsbook is still my favorite in Vegas and rooms are clean. Crowd is a little older and its definitely more on the expensive side. Also, place seemed pretty dead in the middle of night other than the line for Pure (this was a Saturday night).

Staying at Ballys June 14-16 so can provide an update then if thats not too late for you.

I have stayed at Planet Hollywood and enjoyed it. It has a younger, higher energy crowd, and it has a good central location as well.

I've stayed at Quads when it was IP and no way no matter what anyone is saying, Paris (took fiance for her 1st trip to LV) PH (took fiance and her 2 bff's for her 2nd trip and their first), Bally's(conference), Harrah's(October 2012 and returning July 2013 with party of 22 for bachelor/bachelorette party).

Personally PH is the best party atmosphere but Harrah's or Ballys will be your best location. Preference is Harrah's to me. For some reason being able to go outside to the Carnival Court until 2 or 3 am is a good thing. We also like to walk the strip and such, Harrah's and Bally's are the center of the strip.

Rooms wise PH was a little small room wise and not that bright, Bally's slightly worn down, Harrah's average and compared to AC better than those, and Paris nice but nothing to write home about. Fiance loved Paris for the whole Paris/French ambiance set up throughout the hotel and PH for the more party like atmosphere but we never really stay in the hotels to much.

Also look at Southwest airlines. I booked my stays at Aria, Luxor, Monte Carlo and Vdara through their vacation side and it was cheaper than doing the room through the hotel and then adding my flight. I have done the flight separately and booked my rooms directly through the casinos' websites all of the other times.

                  Hope this helps and enjoy.

PH has great rooms, Caesars has great floor action, none of the ones you listed have great nightlife. Bellagio, Wynn, Encore, Palazzo, Cosmopolitan all of good clubs, good food AND nice rooms. Not sure what your budget is though or what your Vegas priority is.

+1, except Paris wouldn't be the end of the world. Decently nice and you couldn't ask for a better location. Certainly not the best atmosphere.

Vegas is one of the few places that you can actually get a decent rate from Hotwire. Although the name of the hotel is annonymous, if you stay with 4-5 stars hotel, you won't go wrong. I have gotten rooms literally at 50% less of the booking rate at the website. If you use betterbidding dot com discussion board, you can actually pretty guess which hotel you are signing on. Only downside is that there is no cancellation or rescheduling. If you are pretty certain about the dates, it is a good way to go. I have gotten vdara, aria, ti, trump, wynn on the website for very good price.
