MGM "small" upgrade... Sandwich Worthy?

    MGM "small" upgrade... Sandwich Worthy?

    Hey there!

    So, I am staying at MGM and am booked in a petite King... No biggie, but I would prefer a room with two beds. Not trying to get a suite or anything. If I try a 20$ sandwich, does anyone know what the odds are that I can upgrade from one bed to two? Anyone had any luck with a "small" upgrade? Would it be better to try at the airport, or just at the hotel? Not staying a holiday weekend (May8-12), and the room is booked for me and my sis, but we have an extra friend on the downlow... Hence the wanting 2 beds.

    The Grand Queen isnt that much more than petite king so you should just change your reservation to that. I think its roughly 15 bucks more a night. No sense tipping to "upgrade" to a basic 2 bedroom room. If youre going to try a sandwich, wait until youre at the hotel to do so and not the airport

      Sorry if this is a thread jack, but I'll be staying at MGM next week, group is 6 ppl, 3 rooms. Is it even feasible to to try and sandwich to get upgraded from a grand queen to a executive queen suite? I'm thinking it might be nice to have some extra space in one of the three rooms to pregame. Everything I've heard suggests MGM doesn't respond well to the upgrade sandwich.

      Edit: 2nd part of the question, we fly in late at night. We won't be checking in until midnight, I'm assuming that greatly decreases our odds of an upgrade, correct?

        With MGM I never try from personal experience but since you're flying in late I prob would give it a shot, not as busy at the front desk, minimal managers looking over the shoulder of the person checking you in.

        2nd pt answer
        It could go either way with a late check-in. It could increase your chances that they overbooked the room you were suppose to check into and you get a free upgrade to a executive suite for free or decrease your chances of getting a successful sandwich. It really depends on the weekend and if they have anything going on there.

          Thanks for the reply, we'll be there next weekend. The Rolling Stones will be there on Saturday, I'd guess that will attract a pretty good crowd.
