  • MGM Grand vs Signature at MGM?

I currently have a room reservation in an MGM Grand Queen room for 4 people over LDW.

However, I could also save about $200 and stay in a room at Signature MGM(using points on MyVegas) but not sure if it would be worth being back from the strip (not sure how much farther it is from what I'll be doing).

Things I'll be doing in Vegas: Hakkasan, Wet Republic, Lazy River, walking the strip, playing poker

That being said, would you suggest the MGM Grand Queen room or the Signature as far as location and quality of room?

I'd go with a room at The Signature over the Grand Queen. Pretty sure you'll have less of a walk to Wet Republic and the MGM Grand Pool Complex while a significantly longer walk to Hakkasan, but it's generally considered a much better room all around.

For walking the strip I suggest Ubering to a more northern hotel like the the Mirage, Bellagio, or Cosmopolitan and then walking and Ubering back if you don't make it all the way back to the MGM. Being back from the strip, off strip, or pretty much anywhere in Vegas is much less of an inconvenience with Uber.

***Don't cancel your reservation for the Grand Queen until you have the Signature room booked. MyVegas has a lot of exclusions that they often don't make clear until you try booking!***

Thanks for the response, I think I will go with the signature being it is a nicer hotel and saves some $ too. Good tip on waiting to cancel MGM room before booking b/c I have noticed a lot of people saying there are exclusions on MyVegas rooms.

Also, uber sounds like a great cheap way to get around the strip compared to waiting in a taxi line.

Is it a standard room or balcony? The best part of signature is the balcony, great views and fresh air. It has its own cab stand too, back on the side road, so you can actually get a cab easier there than out at MGM . It also has full kitchen so get groceries and a room bottle and save even more $ , we are at signature on LDW maybe we will run into you ☺

I'm guessing it's a standard room? I haven't called the MyVegas Rewards # yet to confirm though. That is a good point about the kitchen, especially a fridge to keep beverages in. Yes, maybe we will run into you!

Also- be aware that there are two room types at The Signature and they are very different. The Studio style room is like a normal hotel room, but with a kitchenette. This room is listed sometimes as a 1 bedroom/ 1 bath. The second type of room is an *actual* one bedroom- like a 1 bedroom apartment with separate bedroom w/ en suite bathroom, and then also a full sized living room, dining area and full kitchen. It also has a second full bathroom. Sometimes this room is listed as a 1 bedroom/ 2 bath. Both room types can come with or without a balcony. As a previous poster listed, the balcony is awesome and worth a few more $$.

Turns out this whole discussion was moot. I called MyVegas to book the signature and even though it wasn't listed as a blackout date, I wasn't able to book the room on LDW so we will just stick with our original MGM Queen room. Luckily I booked it a few months back and saved a good amount compared to current rates.

I don't understand how MGM Resorts International thinks it's legal to have these unwritten blackout dates and restrictions but it happens all the time with MyVegas. I've stuck with shows and special events for awhile now since the hassle involved with trying to book a room through MyVegas just isn't really worth it anymore.

Yeah, it's BS. I even pressed the lady on why I can't book the room if it's not listed as a blackout date and she didn't have a good answer for me. I guess I'll just use my points for free drinks and buffets.

Are you an Mlife member? They give decent discounts even at thelow tiers.

Yes, but I booked my room through JC so got a really good price. It's about $300-400 cheaper over a 3-night stay then the MLife rate currently.
