  • Worth A Sandwich ?

Booked hotel and flights for my buddys bachelor party that I am organizing. We wanted to go as cheap as possible for the hotel since we will not be spending much time in the rooms and that money can be better spent on bottles and strippers. We booked 3 rooms at Excalibur, which i know sucks, but I was wondering if a sandwich would be worthwhile here ? Do they have suites or anything they can upgrade us to and if so would $100 sandwich get us upgraded or be worth it? Anyone with any intel or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Not too familiar with Exacalibur itself and upgrading to a Suite, but a sandwich would be good to at least clump the rooms together so you won't be too scattered on different floors. Although you'll only be sleeping there, you'll also need time to recuperate and any upgrade would be nice.

Thanks Good2Go. I appreciate the input.

We stayed at Luxor last October since it was a last minute thing and prices were high. Only had to give the guy $20 and he upgraded us to a spa suite. Seems like Excalibur has a suite similar to the ones we stayed in at the Luxor.

They do have suites at Excalibur so it still might be worth a try. Fatwallet gives it a 70% success rate.

But a 100 dollar bill? Uh...start low and just have high hopes...I understand a 100 at Cosmo or Caesars but Excalibur...they're probably excited to get a $20 (that's lunch and a snack or two)

Yeah I'd just do $20 for each room if I were you and ask if any suites are open.

Awesome, thanks everyone. $20 per room is what I'll try!

KyleVC- I think the success rate of a sandwich trick also depends on what day of the week you arrive. Typically it's much toughter to score a "complimentary" upgrade if you check in on Friday/Saturday. If you reserved the cheapest rooms and they put you up in Tower 2, well that's already an upgrade since those rooms are remodeled. If you get stuck in Tower 1 basic, yikes! (Then again, it's just a room- as you said, gotta save the cash money for bottles and strippers!)

I've had mixed results getting an upgrade at Excalibur - 75% over 4 stays, from Tower 1 to Tower 2, although one of the rooms in T2 was shocking, fantastic view of a brick wall on the 4th floor when the rest were in the 22nd floor. I know that we're not in the room much but it's nice to have a bit of a view and some sunlight hitting the room as opposed to a dark and pretty grim service alley / bin yard.

We usually do $20 a room, any more would be a waste of beer money.
Our group is usually 3-6 people, coming from the UK we hit up Expedia etc to book the cheapest flight & hotel deals to maximise our money when we're out there, this works out better for us given the exchange rates.

Last year the guy on front desk completely cocked up our check in (3 of us, 2 rooms, $40), I had an upgrade to T2 when the others were put in T1, we went down to sort it out and he told me I had been given the wrong room and downgraded me to T1 luckily in the room next to the guys (he was going to put me on a different floor until we flagged him up), the only saving grace was an ajoining door and the rooms looked like they had been given a spruce up - flat screen tv's etc

Try for a suite, it can't hurt to ask, failing that see if there's ajoining rooms on the higher floors in Tower 2 avaliable.
Next trip: June 2013 - Stratosphere Skyjump part II, booze, & one big hangover - Let's Get Mindless!!!
