Is it best to check in at the airport for MGM?

Also whats the chances of using the sandwich trick?

We sandwiched MGM last year and got a solid upgrade.

Definitely worth a try. You don't ask - you don't get! It's essentially a risk-free transaction as they are likely to hand the 20 bucks back to you if they cant get you an upgrade.

Don't think it makes much of a difference whether you check in at the airport or the hotel. Do whatever is the most convenient.

I had heard(dont know how true) that the sandwich trick is very hard to pull off at the airport check in. Better odds at the front desk

I tried the sammich at MGM at the airport check in...didn't work at all, it could've been the fact that there was no waiting and everyone was in our business so maybe the clerk couldn't hook me up or it could've been my face

I've done the sammich at every other hotel with success. The nice thing about Airport check in was no lines and you have your key ASAP.

Good luck, but as they said above...if you don't try you'll never know.

I've always wondered if it would work at the airport check-in for MGM. You really can't beat the convenience of it cause it's so tempting to just check-in with no lines, especially if you've checked bags and are waiting for them to arrive. You're in Vegas - Once again, no need to wait in line!

Never wanted to risk the sandwich at the airport. My hunch too is that the odds of success would be smaller, simply because there aren't as much staff behind the counter. Sometimes you'll encounter a rookie at check-in who appears clueless to the whole process. On the rare occasion when I've had this occur however, they've been able to call over another veteran who "gets it." Problem solved. Less chance of that veteran assistance at the airport.

I would stick to buying a sandwich at the lobby desk always.
