A member of the bachelor party I'm planning received 3 comped rooms at the MGM. We also have a 2 bedroom suite at Elara that's been booked, but can be cancelled without penalty.

What would be the best outcome with 3 comped rooms at MGM for 7 guys?

Should we take the free rooms at MGM and hope for the best or stay with Elara?

Finally, what type of upgrade could you expect from a sandwich at MGM?

    Thanks.

It's a lot more convenient to stay together and for 7 guys, you might want to think about 1 suite you guys can hang out in and then 2 more bedrooms. I'm not sure what kind of budget you guys have but considering you're thinking about the comped rooms, I imagine you do have some kind of budget.

For sandwich in MGM, most you'd get would be the small suites they have, the old bungalow suites, not sure what they're called now. However, success rate at MGM is incredibly low so I never even try there anymore.

If you need more help finding something, send me a PM, I'm from Vancouver too and go to Vegas a few times year.

Bobu thanks. We're gonna push MGM hard for a 2 bedroom signature suite. Have you stayed in the 2 bedroom?

Nah, but I think there's a one at a decent price at airbnb.ca

I believe it fits 8. Just bring some inflatables.

Are you thinking of winging the upgrade at the MGM (asking for it at check in?)
Is there not some kind of limitation on the number of people per room, or does the resort just sort of turn a blind eye to that?

            Huggyd,

It sounds like we'll try the $100 sandwich during check-in. I called MGM and asked about possible ways to get 7 of us comfortable in 3 rooms, and they mentioned that they can have a GRAND QUEEN room connect with a GRAND KING, but I don't know how comfortable my bro's will be with sharing a bed.

MGM does limit 4 people/room and they don't offer roll-away beds or cots.

We'll have to work our magic during check-in and see where we end up.

I'm not a vegas vet or anything, but I do have been there a handful of times. There is always guest limitations. However, I've always put 2 guests in a room and never had a problem - of course don't have everyone at the front desk or anything. I was at a budget bachelor party (at least for the room - so everyone could party hard) and we had one 2 queen and a long chair for 6 guys. I luckily ended up on the chair for the first night and we stayed out all night Saturday night and didn't ever go back to the room to sleep, 1 guy brought an inflatable bed, 1 guy slept on the floor (gross), 2 guys shared a bed (also gross) and the bachelor got the other bed.

Yes, it was very cramped, but it was still a good time. It's possible, but if you don't have the budget restrictions I wouldn't recommend it.

You also can get upgraded for free too - without even asking. It's just rare - I've been upgraded at the tropicana (years ago) to a nice corner suite and a couple years ago I was upgraded from a 2 queen room to a 2 room king suite at Bally's. The decor was seriously dated, but it was a nice free upgrade.

I personally never tried the "sandwich" trick nor really knew about it til I came across this site.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

Bobu - Interesting to hear you've had trouble with the sandwich at MGM cause I've never experienced difficulty with it there. Perhaps I've just been lucky? I tried a $50 sandwich there twice last summer and was upgraded to a Tower One Bedroom Suite on both occasions. On one of those occasions they even kicked me $50 in comped drinks at the pool. So much of the outcome of course, depends on the receptionist you get, preferably one who's "with it."

You could even possibly aim higher at MGM. Landing a City View Suite with a sandwich would be possible, although it's admittedly more of a stretch. I feel it could definitely be done on a vacant weeknight (Tues or Weds) and on some weekends outside of peak season. During the spring/summer months though, it all depends on capacity.

I'm curious - How did you have trouble sandwiching there? Did the receptionist just look at you with a vacant stare? (Hello, Cosmo!) We've all had that before The sandwich is tried and true, but never 100 percent of course.

I sandwiched MGM 20 bucks last year and got upgraded from a basic king room to a one bedroom suite. Was pretty happy with that.

The key is to approach a check-in dude/girl who looks like they've been around a while. You don't want to be trying it on a clerk who's working his / her first shift and getting supervised etc!
