  • 2BR SUITE BATTLE ROYAL > Palms vs Elara

Group of 8 guys heading in July for bachelor party. Pool time during day. Pubs and Lounges at night (NOT interested in tier 1 (or likely even tier 2) club scene).

Looking like a price of around $1400 + taxes/fees for Palms (3 nights) or $1200ish incl taxes/fees for Elara.

Wanted feedback from you guys.. here are my thoughts. Please add to or correct where I'm wrong:

    PALMS
PRO: Casino/Bars/Restaurant in hotel on site
PRO: Ditch Friday (booking cabana likely) is there
PRO: Considering PrixFixe dinner at N9NE on Thursday Night (again: on site)
    CON: Suites are smaller?
CON: LOcation is farther from the strip (10min cab ride)?

    ELARA:
    PRO: Larger suite / floorplan.
PRO: Closer to the strip (albeit not ON the strip)
    PRO: About 20% cheaper
CON: gotta walk through a mall to get to the casino/dinner/bars
CON: Will likely have to take a cab over to Palms on Friday for Ditch anyway

    Thoughts? Thanks guys.

    Elara.

The cab fare adds up, especially for 8 guys; unless you all plan on staying at the Palms the whole time.

Hrm even with the pool scene at Elara / Planet Hollywood sucking so hard? A buddy referred to it as a white trash scene and said the Palms scene is far superior. True? We'll be spending all day friday and saturday at the pool most likely. I'm just worried about having to jump to other hotels to have a decent time during the day as time at a pool is pretty important to us.

I figure we're looking at ~$12-15 fare (w/tip) to Mid North or Mid South Strip. Better if we can do the limo/van thing and pack em in. If we go out at night thats' $8/guy round trip... not too bad? I guess I put that extra $30 over the course of the trip as a worthy expense for a good pool nearby. Maybe I'm wrong here?

Hrm... definitely looking for more feedback.

for the needs you described I'd say palms. Even tho its offstrip if the pool scene is ultra important to u then it may be the better out of the two. I stayed at palms last august and i enjoyed all the onsite bar and dining options. I did kinda dislike the cab fare to the strip but i dont remember it being too bad.. but then again i wasnt in a group of 8. What i also like is that at the time i was there we got into all the clubs onsite with roomkey free. If u gamble having an onsite casino is great...Honestly i recently canceled my reservation a sweet suite i had booked for june because of a killer deal i was able to get for a palms sale for my dates in june... palms place 53$ for each the week days of my trip and only 89 for weekend days. Originally had my heart set on a loft style expensive suite and but i said well damn for 53 bucks i dont think i could even book a motel 6 hahaha. JK but all in all i had a great time at the property las summer LoL Ive never been to elara i wish i could visualize the exact location a little better.. Planet hollywood itself has a fantastic location fun place and its across from cosmo is elara physically connected to PH or is it like a lonnnggg trek? im sure some1 can clarify lol So all in all for u I say team palms lol. another idea about making ur suite cheaper... what about connecting rooms at palms or palms place? might make ur 3 days dirt cheap

          THanks for the feedback Tori!

Regarding the connection... yes it's a shops/mall setup that connects the two i think. Word is it's only a 5-7 minute walk... not too terribly bad. The pool thing is just a deal breaker for me though. I dunno. I'll have to talk to the guys.

Regarding the connecting rooms... not a bad idea at all. That said we definitely want at least one suite as a "basecamp" with a buncha bottles and shit for pregaming as everyones getting their shit together.

The pricing you got on that one trip is sick!

If you want to save some cab rides you can take a 5 min walk to the rio and they have free shuttles to the strip going to all their properties.

It's easier to pull girls back to the hotel room if they don't actually have to leave the hotel, so I'd go with the palms

Bro have you looked in to a wraparound suite at the cosmo? I think for that budget you could get that. Pool scene there is much greater then both. But if I had to choose and since you are not looking for tier 1 clubs I would stay at the palms. Other places i may try though would be venetian or palazzo. They have a good pool there as well and usually hook guests up for free if I am not mistaken.

Those suites look great but you're talking about 1 bed in the wraparound and 1 in the adjoining room. You're only able to sleep 2 maybe 4 guys plus couch crashers. We're looking at 8-10 guys now so it just won't work I don't think.

I do appreciate the suggestion. Those suites are awesome. Found a great video on youtube touring one.

C/S. Connecting bella suites at Palazzo or Venetian. 2 queens + 1 pull out (full) in each room

Hotel guests can get usually get in for free at Tao Beach early on.

Plenty of bars and non tier 1 clubs in the vicinity (Tao, Lavo, Surrender, 1OAK). You really wouldn't have to cab it anywhere
                      2016 (past) - none
                      2016 (upcoming) - June 10th - 13th. Venetian. Invasion schedule

I like the venetian idea but doesn't give us a "big suite" for a base to start from each night. Got 12 guys now likely so gonna need the space.

Wonder what kinda luck we'd have with trying to $100 sandwich our way into one of the crazy fantasy suites at palms...if even for only thursday night... play up the "His bachelor party and first time in vegas" angle and see what they do....

I pretty much sandwich everywhere and get a "1 up" upgrade most of the time, and a strip view upgrade almost ALL the time. However that's typically with smaller rooms and suites. I would be cautious expecting much if anything for an upgrade like the one you are talking about. I mean it's worth a try but I wouldn't plan anything around it.

Definitely not counting on it. Hoping for a bump to one of the penthouses or something... Even if only for thurs night... But fully going into it planning on ending up as booked.
