MGM Grand and Credit Card

When making reservations at the MGM Grand, I noticed I paid down a deposit in advance (first night) and I will have a balance that will include the next night, resort fees, and taxes once I check in. I typically like to pay balances up front in full when I check in. Does the hotel charge additional amounts on your credit card as a hold for things such as incidentals? I'd like to know since I don't like surprises. Thanks.

My last trip Aria did a bunch of pre-auths on my card but only when I ordered something and charged to the room. I think it's pretty common for them to pre-auth your card but it usually clears off in a few days. If you don't charge anything to the room of significance I don't think they will pre-auth your card tho.

From my experience, they take a temp authorization to cover incidentals that will release after a few days. Rule of thumb would b additional 50 in auth per night u are there.

MGM isn't as bad as others...sometimes you can get lucky and prepay a stay...But the Cosmopolitan is waaay more aggressive and they put at least a $600 hold on a 5 night stay and after asking they said expect a 10 day hold to remain AFTER checkout! I'm like what!
