  • Group Booking Manager Tip?

    Hey,

I'm staying at Palms Place and heading up a large group of travelers (25 rooms). We already got the upgrade to a better suite than everyone else as group coordinators... but is it possible for me to get a penthouse? If I gave our Group Booking Manager a nice handshake on arrival? If so, how much?

It will probably come down to whether or not one is available when you arrive. If they have one sitting empty then it's certainly possible.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

No problem...are you getting a comped limo from the airport? That should be automatic for that size of group.

Nice....you'll probably have some food and drinks waiting in the room.

Instead of trying a handshake you may just wanna ask your coordinator for the comped upgrade straight out now.
If they say no you can always try for a handshake when you arrive.

This isn't a bad approach. However, the comped upgrade will probably only happen if an upgrade is available on the day you check in. They won't give away the upgrade if they feel they still have a good possibility of selling the room. I would ask for the upgrade 24-48 hours prior to your arrival date. If they have open rooms at that point it's less likely they will sell them so they may bite to at least know they're making you happy and may get some return biz in the future rather than letting a room sit empty.

I think I may go with that. We technically already got an upgrade from coordinating the group. During our initial negotiations I inquired on the penthouse price. I got quoted at $1k a night for Penthouse E in PP and that is only 40sq ft bigger than the room I'm getting now. The only main draw is the swimming pool on the balcony. I figure since E is the smallest of the Penthouses it is probably last chosen by the real high rollers anyway. So, I'll ask again when we arrive. Thanks for the advice everyone!
