EDMbiz Rates for Cosmo

I haven't booked a hotel yet for EDC weekend and came across the site for the EDMbiz conference that is taking place that week at the Cosmopolitan. They have a hotel link where you can make reservations. They have you click "Attendee" and the rates are cheaper (start at $169/night) than most of the MGM properties offered through the EDC site for that weekend.

Will they require any proof that I'm going to the conference or does that not matter?

Seems a bit risky to book via a site run by a conference without being a conference attendee. It'd probably work, but there's a non-trivial chance they'd cancel your reservation at some point. One or two might slip by, but if they fill their hotel block and there are a fair bit more rooms booked than conference memberships they'd probably get suspicious.

I don't think Passkey gives your name to the hotel until a lot closer to the date of the reservation, so lots of time for them/Insomniac to notice. At least that's the way it's worked for other events which have used Passkey.

actually it **was** fine to book via that method - however today Insomniac sent out a tweet telling people to book via that link if they wanted rooms at the Cosmo... so it promptly sold out for the weekend.

ya way more expensive now. That $300 room was $165 before. LOL. The EDC site has rooms in the $200 range still for other hotels.
