Palazzo upgrade question

I have a Priceline winning bid($160/night), I need two queens, do I call and pay the standard upgrade price for two queens($30/night)? Or roll the dice with a sandwich at the front desk hoping to get a Bella strip view? Well be checking in around noon on a Friday... Also in a Bella, does the couch pull out?

I have the exact same question about the Venetian for a trip in a couple of weeks. I won a bid at 175 a night when the bella suite price was higher around 260 and now its down to 229. Wondering if I should pay the difference now or roll the dice with a 20 sandwich. Don't care about the view or anything.

The Bella Suite couch does come with a pull out.

I called Palazzo and they qouted me $30/night to upgrade/garauntee 2 queens... In all reality I should just pay the $60, but I dunno all the reports make it sound like Venetian/Palazzo are some of the easiest on the strip to sandwich. The way I look at it, there is always a pullout sofa in the king rooms, and enough space for a rollaway/air mattress.. We only have 3 people so it can totally work, but would like to get the bella, so were not drawing straws.

The problem with relying on a sandwich to get the bella rooms at V/P is that they are some of the most desirable rooms in the hotel because they are the only room type (short of a 2br Lago suite) that has more than one king bed. I've heard many stories (and have experienced it as well) where people are offered very nice upgrades/other comps because the bella rooms are overbooked and they want to move people out of them. Now, using the sandwich trick to upgrade to some of the nicer one bed suites at V/P is very easy.

Just did the same thing with Venetian. Same quoted price of 30/night. Ended up being the same price if I would have booked it now through the hotel but their prices have dropped.

$60 was worth the peace of mind especially since we have 6 people. Only ends up being $10 more a person anyway.

Good call, I know Vegas is a bit different but after working the front desk of many hotels for over 7 years it's easier to just pay for the peace of mind. It's easier to upgrade/pay from going straight through the hotel as opposed to a 3rd party.
