Ok so I have a question. As the title says I(along with a group of friends) are planning on going to Vegas for the New Year. (I know, I know, that's crazy far away) we were just curious to see if it's actually worth it ( in terms of epicness) to spend the extra cash for the hotels and whatnot. I'm sure all the table mins will be jacked up, clubs will be more expensive, and just general crazyness. My question to you people is basically what I sated above... Is it actually worth it to go directly on NYE, or should we just go a week before or after?

I went this past NYE to ring in 2012 and had the time of my life. Spent it with my girl and met up with some friends...I can honestly say it was the best time i've ever had. We spent 4 nights at the Venetian and did a club every night with an epic DJ lineup. Yes it was a little on the expensive side and can get a lot more expensive if you let it/want it to be but well worth it IMO. We did GA club tickets every night to include NYE, Venetian, flights, etc for about $1,800 for the both of us. Got some good rates and purchased early bird tickets to help keep the cost down. I would say do it just to experience it and say you did it. Crazy amount of people and madness lol! If you like it, great! Enjoy the time and make stories out of it.-------------

The main reason we would go basically is just to say how epic it was. I know we'll have an awesome time, but there's a possibility of some first timers with us also. Another thing- were the casinos packed and did you hAve to wait for a table to gamble?
I just want to think about all this stuff before we make a mistake and spend 300% more than we should, just because of the new year

I've done it b4 and it was a bit overrated. But then again, if I was with a different group I might have enjoyed it more. It's all what you make of it.2013 Trips:
2/11-2/12 @ MGM Grand
4/17-4/19 @ Mirage
6/20-6/24 EDC @ Cosmo, MGM Signature, & Flamingo
7/21-7/23 @ MGM Grand
8/12-8/15 @ Encore

If there are first timers going and money is going to be an issue I would avoid New Years Eve. Everything from the flights, hotels, table minimums, to the clubs will be jacked up in price just because of New Years. Every day of the week in Vegas is a party, so from someone who has done New Years there, you're not really going to be missing anything. If you go to a club all you'll get is a countdown and some confetti. Is that really worth all the extra money? If you stay outside on the strip it's pretty much like Times Square in NYC except you can drink. Save the money and go a week earlier or after. Just my 2 cents.

I second this.
I've been to Vegas on NYE 4 times now and like it less and less each time. I think last year was the last time I'll go. It seems like its gotten busier and busier each time I go. The strip on NYE is a madhouse and makes it difficult to maneuver. Any weekend in Vegas is a good one if its your first one -- why go when its' overpriced and overbooked?!

We figured it would be pretty awesome to ring in the new years in Vegas is pretty much the only reason. Reading everything on here, plus talking to my buddy (I've learned his bday is jan 10th) we think we'll just wait and party it up for his birthday.
Having said that- his parents have a timeshare at blue green club 36. We stayed there last time and it was amazing... My only beef was it was off strip.
I want to get a suite but the other guys are trying to talk me out of it saying its a waste. What can I say to them to persuade them it's worth it?
