going to conference which hotel to stay at nyny or elara???? what do you think?

going to a conference mid may which is going to be hosted at the new york new york......i'm not really wanting to stay there but they are giving me an allotment for a room and with the conference rate it will fall under what they are giving me per night. i've also looked at the elara (old ph towers) which we can walk to ny ny every morning. any other suggestions for around $100 a night maybe mgm grand? of course i'm going to try the sandwich trick but figured i'd see if anyone had any other good suggestions? i'm leaning toward the elara even if we have to walk.......anyone ever stay in the nyny suites?

I saw the MGM has renovated some of their rooms. You might want to check. I stayed their last year and it was horribly dated, stained and a funk in the room, but it was an older suite.
I would go with the Elara.

Elara suites are nice, and if you can do without the HD projector screen in the living room, you can probably get a pretty good deal in their Junior Suite (the 1 BR suite has the projector in the living room, jr suite does not).
